Fur Angels Animal Sanctuary

Fur Angels Animal Sanctuary Our mission is to give all pets (big and small) a second chance at finding a loving forever home.

Fur Angels Animal Sanctuary is a non profit foster home based animal rescue run by volunteers. Our volunteers donate their time outside of their full time jobs and family to help animals in need. We rescue all kind of animals: Dogs, cats, small animals, birds and even reptiles. We rescue animals from kill shelters, animal control and owner surrenders. Our rescue is unique in that we also work wit

h animals with disabilities. We get no grants or any type of funding, but rely on adoption fees, donors, and sponsorships to help continue our work helping the animals that need us. We also conduct fundraisers to raise necessary funds to provide care for our foster animals. We are located in many different areas: Aurora, Oswego, Chicago, Joliet, and even Northwest Indiana. We’re always looking for committed foster homes to help us help more animals in need. Check out our website: www.furangelsas.org

Alexander and Chester are a pair of bonded ringneck doves. They haven’t been gender tested, so we aren’t sure, but we think they are both males. They love to snuggle together and groom each other. They are also very curious and will take any opportunity to explore. They are very used to being around people, but still find hands a bit troubling. They are making great progress, however, and we are sure they’ll gain their confidence soon.
If you're interested in this pair (or other pairs in the rescue), head over to www.furangelsas.com and fill out our adoption application. Adoption fee is $50.

Laverne and Shirley are female rats believed to be under one year of age. They came to our from WI and were surrendered due to their person facing financial difficulties.

Shirley, the black and white girl, is very sweet, gentle and quite adventurous. She loves to get out of her cage and explore.

Laverne is more reserved and scared, and she will let you know it with a bite. She will need an experienced rat handler who is patient and willing to work with her unique personality. She will come and take food from your hand without biting,

Out of cage play time and positive food reinforcement will help to develop her confidence.

Proof of a proper enclosure is required: one with solid floors and shelves to prevent foot injuries, bar spacing small enough to prevent escape or heads getting caught, good ventilation to prevent respiratory issues, and enough room to climb, explore, and provide enrichment activities like digging, burrowing, and balancing. Four cubic feet per rat is optimal. Like other animals, rats are very intelligent and need mental stimulation. They are also social creatures so they should be adopted in pairs at a minimum. Rats are heat sensitive, so cage placement is important: an area in the home that does not get too hot in the warmer weather. They do best in areas that are completely dark for at least 8 hours a day with no nightlights or other ambient lighting.

Their adoption fee is $40.
