Sheba loves a lot of things, not least of all people and kids. She is very athletic and is always up for walkies, games, and any sort of play. Sheba is also usually ready for food & snacks, there are unverified reports of counter surfing, but she lawyered up and the mystery has been left unsolved. When she takes a break from being active, Sheba loves snuggles, belly rubs, and easy toys like a food puzzle.

Sheba will require slow introductions with other animals. She loves attending her training classes and the rescue will provide 3 free training sessions to ensure a successful transition into her new family. She will thrive in an environment that will give her strong boundaries and expectations. She enjoys pleasing her humans and can do well when she has goals. Sheba could probably do well as an agility dog and/or a therapy dog.

Sheba has had two instances of heartworm and was successfully treated. She will need to be on meds the rest of her life and we can talk with interested adopters more about this.

HAPPY (DILUTE) BLACK CAT FRIDAY!

MEET WICK - We know Wick is grey. You know Wick is grey. Wick made a very convincing argument about technically being a "dilute black cat." We think it may be a stretch, but who are we curb his creative thinking?

Wick a truly delightful fellow ready to bring a whole lot of love and calm into your life! This friendly boy isn't shy about making his affection known – prepare for gentle head boops and sweet rubs against your legs as he politely requests some attention (and maybe a few pets in return!).

Wick is a happy-go-lucky cat who dreams of finding his forever family, a place where he can truly blossom and show just how loving he can be. He absolutely adores being brushed and will purr up a storm while you tell him what a handsome man he is (because, let's be honest, he really is!). If you're looking for a sweet, steady companion who will shower you with affection, Wick might just be the purrfect match for you!

Wick is FIV+ positive, but don't let that worry you! FIV+ kitties can lead a normal life and be around other cats. We are happy to chat with you about this!

History of International Cat Day - It's a special day to celebrate our tiny overseers!

Cats are carnivorous small furry mammals — for the most part — with four legs, a tail, and claws, that humans have domesticated as pets since ancient times, even though they have descended from the African Wildcat and they used to catch vermin.

The first historical human record about cats could be found in Ancient Egyptian Civilization’s culture. We all seem to relate cats with Egyptians, because of their adoration and consideration of cats as gods. Mafdet was the first known cat deity and was regarded as the protector against snakes, scorpions, and evil during the First Dynasty, so for them, cats were not just deities, but also protectors.

Later, after the Egyptian Dynasty collapsed, Cats became popular everywhere! Greeks and Romans used them as pest control, and in the East, cats were originally owned by rich and wealthy people. But during the Middle Ages, in Europe, Cats became associated with superstition and suspected of carrying the disease during the Black Death of 1348, that is the reason why too many cats got killed in that era, and it wasn’t until the 1600s that cats’ reputation started to recover.

In America, cats were part of the cargo on the colonization ships to minimize vermin and disease, so those cats went ashore and flourished. Nowadays, cats seem to be one of the pop icons in modern society – we have about half of a billion among us. And, since 2002, thanks to the “International Fund for Animal Welfare” cats have their own holiday!

Are you looking for a little buddy who is willing to share in everything you do? Meet Charles! Charles is obsessed with having his human(s) and wants to be included. He loves to snuggle any time there is an opportunity, also loves launching himself, and joining in whatever his people are doing. He thinks playing with other cats' and dogs' tails is also tons o'fun. It's not all just playtime. Charles also enjoys carrying toys in his mouth and bringing gifts to his people.

Charles is very confident and friendly. He may not be a good fit with shy or not confident animals because he may get into their personal space and push their boundaries.

Overall, Charles is very friendly and outgoing. He is more outgoing than the average kitten and his fosters are training him to have better manners for things like leaving the human's food alone and not to give love bites (especially at bedtime). He may be a bit too much for young children. But, because of his outgoing nature and energy level, Charles might do well on a harness to be an adventure kitty.

Charles has herpes and may experience additional outbreaks (this has been in his eyes with ulcers) but none currently. He has been to an eye specialist and they said he can see fine, despite the scarring, but it could be ongoing throughout life. Please don't let this condition deter you from meeting Charles. Demi's would be happy to talk about this more with a potential adopter and answer any questions you have.
