Pain can be quiet. Hiding, avoiding favorite activities, struggling to get comfortable, or repeatedly licking one area may be the clues your pet gives you instead of crying. These changes deserve attention, even without obvious distress.

A dog's nose can go from wet to dry throughout the day for perfectly normal reasons, including sleeping, weather, activity, and hydration.

Instead of judging health by nose moisture alone, watch your dog's overall behavior and symptoms.

We would like everyone to join us on welcoming Dr. Paul Moore to our amazing team! Without his help, we wouldn’t be able to see nearly as many patients as we have this last month. He is an incredible addition!

Hey there Dr. Paul Moore here-
I am a 2022 graduate from Purdue's College of Veterinary Medicine. I originally grew up in Colorado and spent every summer of my life vacationing in Maine with my family. A taste of northeastern winters at University of Vermont prior to vet school convinced me moving to Maine was the ultimate goal.

I've joined the Atlas team to help provide same day urgent care needs to the Augusta area. I know the feeling of having a sick pet at home yet waiting for that appointment slot- some things just can't wait! As a veterinarian my goal is to treat each pet like I would my own- finding the right balance of diagnostics and treatments by weighing the pros/cons on each plan and talking it through.

During a visit with me you are likely to hear about my 2 black Labradors and the 8 cats at home. If I'm not in the clinic then you are bound to find me on Lake Cobbossee boating around or skiing depending on the season!

A tiny puncture can hide a much bigger injury. Animal bites can damage deeper tissue and introduce bacteria, even when there is little bleeding. Do not wait for swelling or discharge before seeking care.
