Another brutal day out there. Temperature reading at 100°. Remember that with a temperature like that, that the sidewalks and pavements can reach temperatures of 120° degrees plus. Walks with your furry friends should be extremely limited! Before going on a walk, put the back of your hand on the pavement or sidewalk. (Or go out barefoot) If you can't leave it there comfortably for 10 seconds without it burning you, then same goes for your pup. The dangers of burnt paw pads are very real and painful

I think sometimes that the hardest parts of my job is the extreme summer weather, or gas prices, or keeping up with the paperwork side of things. But, without a doubt, the hardest thing is saying goodbye to the dogs and cats I get to see everyday. They become part of my family and I grow to love them so much. I found out yesterday that my oldest doggy client, Berkley, is crossing the Rainbow Bridge this evening. Her owners hired me right when I started my new business venture and I have been there now through 3 pups passing. And, it hasn't gotten any easier. But, Berkley has the sweetest soul and it was so difficult for me to leave on my last visit with her and her siblings today. My heart goes out to her owners during this time and I know she has a loving brother and sister waiting on the other side of the bridge for her 🌈💗

I had a housesitting that started Friday and ends Tuesday. We have Finn (german shepherd) and Lilly (cocker spaniel). I have never seen a cocker spaniel with this coloring and I'm loving it! She is so beautiful! She is a little mischievous so I have to keep my bag out of reach so she doesn't snoop 😄 Finn is the typical velcro dog and is obsessed with playing fetch. I can only throw it a short distance though; Finna doesn't realize he is becoming an old man (shhhh! Don't tell him!)🤫

Two of the cats that I'm taking care of have a condition known as "wobbly cat syndrome" I actually first learned about it from a cat I saw on tiktok. And, I thought how could anyone elt a cat live life that way? But, the owner educated people through her videos that cats with these conditions are in no pain and can live full, healthy lives and be great companions! So, my black and white cat, Hero; hardly ever sleeps in bed with me. A couple of nights ago, he decided that he wanted to. Him and my other male cat, Duffy, are not the greatest of friends. So, when Duffy came up a couple of minutes later and saw Hero laying next to me....well, you can see he was not thrilled 😂 he sat there for a couple of minutes giving Hero the evil eye before deciding he was going to sleep in the chair in the living room.

Fresh salmon dog treats right out of the oven! A client ordered them and I had to make them quickly just in case we do end up losing power. And, there's 5 extra for Chance. I know the last few times that I have posted pictures of the homemade dog food I make for Chance has been the finished product. I just wanted to share one of the recipes I'm making him this time and show you the products at the beginning. This time I am using ground chicken, ground pork, brown rice, zucchini, fresh cranberries, regular potatoes(although he likes sweet potatoes more. I'm just out of them 🤫), and chicken broth. I give him roughly one cup of this in the morning along with about a tablespoon of Greek yogurt and a few blueberries , and then he has access to a high quality dry kibble throughout the day. I've been making dog food for my dogs for years but about 6 months ago I came across this book called "The Forever Dog". I cannot recommend it enough, it goes into great detail about different things you can feed your dogs and the benefits of each of these things and even gives you some recipes that you can start with. The book is only about $15 on Amazon and for anyone looking to try to start making food for their dogs I think this is the best book to start your journey with. And, of course, a picture of my 12 year old special boy! 🥰
