Happy Veterinary Technician Week Day 7!

🐾❤️ ONE JOB TITLE. SO MANY HATS. ❤️🐾

As Veterinary Technician Appreciation Week comes to an end, let’s recap just a FEW of the roles veterinary technicians and assistants fill every day!

🩺 Nurse
💉 Phlebotomist
🔬 Laboratory technician
🩻 Radiology technician
🦷 Dental care team
💊 Medication preparation and management
💗 Anesthesia and recovery monitoring
🐶 Patient comforter
❤️ Pet parent educator

And that’s not even the whole list!

We clean, we calculate, we draw blood, we run tests, we monitor anesthesia, we assist with procedures, we comfort scared patients, and we celebrate the little victories.

We experience the joy of watching a sick pet recover and the heartbreak of saying goodbye to patients we’ve grown to love.

Veterinary medicine is more than a job. It’s a commitment to the animals who depend on us and the families who trust us with their care.

To every veterinary technician and veterinary assistant: THANK YOU for everything you do, even the things no one sees. And thank you to our All Creatures clients for trusting us with your beloved pets. 🐾❤️

Happy Veterinary Technician Week Day 6!

💗 TODAY’S HAT: ANESTHESIA NURSE! 🩺

One of the most important responsibilities in veterinary medicine happens when your pet is under anesthesia.

Veterinary technicians trained in anesthesia help monitor patients before, during, and after procedures. That means keeping a close eye on:

❤️ Heart rate and rhythm
🫁 Breathing and oxygen levels
🩺 Blood pressure
🌡️ Body temperature
👀 Depth of anesthesia and recovery

We’re watching the monitors, assessing the patient, recognizing changes, and communicating with the veterinarian throughout the procedure.

And our job doesn’t end when the procedure is over! Recovery care, warmth, comfort, and close observation are all important parts of helping patients wake up safely.

It’s a responsibility that requires training, focus, and constant attention.

When your pet is in our care, every little detail matters. ❤️🐾

Happy Veterinary Technician Week Day 5!

💊 TODAY’S HAT: MEDICATION EXPERT! 🐾

No, veterinary technicians aren’t pharmacists in the same way as human pharmacy professionals, but medication management is a big part of our day!

Under the veterinarian’s direction, veterinary technicians may help:

💊 Calculate and double-check medication doses
🧴 Prepare and label prescribed medications
💉 Administer medications and treatments
📋 Review administration instructions with pet parents
⚠️ Monitor patients for potential adverse reactions and report concerns

From tiny tablets for a cat to carefully calculated doses for a giant-breed dog, accuracy matters!

We pay close attention to the details because the right medication, dose, route, and timing can make a real difference in patient care.

It’s one more reason veterinary technicians wear so many hats throughout the day!

Happy Veterinary Technician Week Day Four!

🦷 TODAY’S HAT: DENTAL TECHNICIAN! 🐶🐱

Dental care is about so much more than fresh breath!

Veterinary technicians play an important role in professional pet dental cleanings, helping prepare patients, monitor anesthesia, clean and polish teeth, and assist the veterinarian with a thorough oral health assessment.

Professional cleanings allow the veterinary team to address plaque and tartar, including buildup below the gumline that you can’t see just by looking at your pet’s smile.

We also help educate pet parents about dental disease, home dental care, and the importance of routine oral health checks.

Because our patients can’t tell us when their teeth hurt, keeping an eye on their oral health is SO important! ❤️

Healthy mouths make for happier, more comfortable pets. 🐾

Happy Veterinary Technician Week Day Three!

🩻 TODAY’S HAT: X-RAY TECHNICIAN! 🐾

Ever wonder who helps get those X-ray images when your pet is limping, has swallowed something they shouldn’t have, or needs chest or abdominal imaging?

Veterinary technicians help prepare and position patients, operate radiographic equipment, and obtain diagnostic images for the veterinarian to interpret.

It takes knowledge of anatomy, proper positioning, attention to detail, and a strong focus on radiation safety to get useful images.

And let’s be honest… convincing a nervous or wiggly patient to hold still can be a skill all on its own! 😂🐶

Our goal is to obtain the best diagnostic images possible while keeping our patients safe and comfortable.

Next time your pet needs X-rays, remember there’s a lot of skill behind those pictures!

10/19/2026

Happy Veterinary Technician Week Day Two!

🔬 TODAY’S HAT: LAB TECHNICIAN! 🧪

When your veterinarian recommends blood work, a urinalysis, or a f***l test, there’s often a veterinary technician working behind the scenes to help get those answers!

Our laboratory responsibilities can include:

🩸 Collecting blood samples and running CBCs and chemistry panels
🔬 Examining samples under the microscope
🧪 Performing f***l and urine testing
🦠 Preparing and evaluating cytology samples
📋 Reviewing results and bringing important findings to the veterinarian’s attention

Those tiny cells, numbers, and microscopic details can provide BIG clues about what’s happening inside your pet’s body.

Sometimes we’re detectives, sometimes scientists, and sometimes both before our first cup of coffee! ☕️😂

We’re proud of the important diagnostic work our veterinary team does every day!

📅 October 18–24, 2026

This week, we want to give a BIG thank you to our amazing veterinary technician and veterinary assistants at All Creatures Veterinary Clinic! 🩺🐶🐱

Behind every patient is a team of dedicated people who work hard to provide compassionate care, comfort scared pets, support worried owners, assist with procedures, run lab work, and do so much behind the scenes that often goes unnoticed.

To our vet techs and vet assistants: thank you for the long days, the messy moments, the patience, the compassion, and the love you pour into every patient who walks through our doors. You are advocates for the animals who cannot speak for themselves, a helping hand to your teammates, and an important part of what makes veterinary medicine so special. ❤️

Veterinary medicine takes a team, and we are so thankful for the people who show up every day with caring hearts and a commitment to making a difference in the lives of our patients and their families. 🐾

Help us celebrate and thank veterinary technicians and assistants this week and every week! They deserve all the appreciation in the world. 🥰
