I should have shared this back when I first came across the Friends of Big Bear Valley live eagle cam in March! Maybe it was best I didn’t…it was kind of addicting😅 Anyone else watch the eagle cam? I had no idea how popular Jackie and Shadow were and how they would become a part of our daily lives! 🦅❤️🦅 We’d talk about Jackie and Shadow everyday, even with our friends…probably a little too much. 😂 But if you watched them, you understand! It was really pretty cool to watch! We’d tune in first thing in the morning and again as the last thing we did at night. I’d have the cam playing throughout the day so anytime I came inside, I could check in and see what was going on. We watched their babies hatch and grow and got to see just how much work goes into raising eaglets! So. Much. Work. 😅 I loved watching Jackie and Shadow together. They each had such distinct personalities and their own way of doing things. Jackie was definitely the boss, and Shadow seemed to know his place. She definitely had a personality all her own and had quite a mouth on her 😆Watching the two of them work together, raise their babies was amazing to watch. Mother Nature truly is magnificent! I had no idea how many people had been watching Jackie and Shadow for years, or how many lives they had touched all over the world! What started as simply watching an eagle cam turned into something I looked forward to every single day. I learned so much just by watching two eagles! Love their backstory and all they’ve endured over the years. And now, knowing Jackie’s story and being a part of her journey, her passing is heartbreaking. But that gal stayed strong until her babies were old enough to be okay under Shadow’s care. She did what she needed to do right to the end. As I was writing this post…I had eagle cam 2 on and was hearing eagles! Shadow had landed in a tree and there was another eagle on the tree with him. Did a little research and it is a young female eagle that has started to spend time with Shadow. Nothing like perking up an old bird like a cute young chick 😅
Soar high, Jackie. 🦅❤️ You will be missed, but what a gift it was to get to watch you, and to be a tiny part of the worldwide community that loved you🪶
