With the summer heat upon us, the Syracuse Police Department reminds pet owners that it's never a good idea to leave your pet in a hot car!

In a matter of minutes, the temperature inside a vehicle can rise to dangerous levels that can seriously injure or kill an animal.

Pet owners who leave their animals in a hot car can also face criminal charges, and possibly a broken-out window, if Officers have to rescue a distressed pet locked inside with no owner present.

Make sure both you and your pets stay cool in this hot weather!
