Tons of fun this morning with Elsie and Teddy!!! I love Saints and these two are phenomenal ❤️. So are their parents, who bring them to see us because they know it means the world to me.

So very sad to see this. She was such a sweetheart and I really enjoyed our long talks.

So very sad to see this. She was such a sweetheart and I really enjoyed our long talks.

Doris Ann Longsworth, 91, of Auburn, passed away, Sunday, May 10, 2026, at Heritage Pointe of Fort Wayne.

Doris Ann Barney was born to Harold Fielding Barney and Glen Eva (Smith) Barney on July 11, 1934 on the family farm in Larwill, Indiana, in the same bedroom where her father had been born. Joining big sister Marjorie, Doris loved the outdoors, her pets, and friends who were only a bike ride away. When she was eleven, a toddler joined their family. Doris embraced little sister Vicki, helping her settle into the family. As a young teen, school, friends and town activities were important, and eventually bikes and horse rides gave way to cars and movies and boys. In high school, Doris met a basketball player from Churubusco for whom she left school to marry. Richard McCoy joined the Army and was first stationed at Fort Knox before going to Germany. At 18, Doris boarded a plane and moved there, too, where she remained until Richard’s discharge. She sailed home with morning sickness and gave birth to her first child a few months later.

Richard and Doris were married for 11 years before divorcing. Doris met Phil Longsworth and they were married. Daughter Kristina, and son (Philip) Patrick joined the family, and their home was filled with children, and lots of activity.

No longer wanting to work in a factory, Phil bought a gas station and Doris learned the books and finances. Phil later partnered with a friend and built a ditching business, with Doris continuing her role of scheduling, billing and finance. Later, son Pat bought the business and Doris continued as secretary/treasurer, and did whatever else needed done, until well into her 80’s.

Doris was devoted to her family, loved spending time with her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren, attending activities and cheering them on. She enjoyed the company of pets, both dogs and cats, throughout her life. She was tough and stubborn, committed and loyal. Her family knew she had their back no matter what.

Doris is survived by sister Vicki Bruce, daughters Toni Carmer (Scott), Kris Beer (Todd); grandchildren Matthew Carmer (Jennifer), Chris Carmer (Melanie), Dominique Hyndman (Andrew), Holly Herndon (Beau), Shay Barry (Adam Prater), Melissa Northup (Austin); Great-grandchildren, Riley Carmer (Kassidy), Sophia Carmer, Jonah Hyndman, Olivia Conlon, Clayton Carmer, Ella Carmer, Henry Hyndman, and Baby Boy Northup due in October. Sister Marjorie Grant, former husband Phil Longsworth, son Pat Longsworth, and granddaughter Abigail Vargas preceded her in death.

Services will take place at 3 p.m. Thursday, May 14, 2026, at Feller and Clark Funeral Home, 1860 Center St., Auburn, with the Rev. Scott Carmer officiating.

Visitation will be from 1 - 3 p.m. Thursday, May 14, 2026, prior to the service at the funeral home.

Memorials may be made to the Heritage Pointe Foundation Fund, a program that helps take care of residents whose financial resources have been exhausted.
