This past weekend we had a great time at the PNWRHA Summer Classic in Cle Elum at the WA State Horse park. The show was a big one (such a great turnout) so long days and it was very hot, but we gained a lot of great experience and see a lot of friendly faces. Ruby, Breezy, Shadow and Buddy got to come along.
Shadow (RTR Stylish Justice) and I led the Ranch Riding and Flag work portion of the clinic Friday evening. Due to terrible traffic on the way, we arrived just in time to unpack and saddle up. We also got to work a cow for the first time since my injury last year, always fun!
Ruby (This Chic is Chexy) got to show for the first time and despite a few baby moments, she did very well. She gathered experience showing in Ranch Rail, Ranch Riding, Ranch Reining, Box Drive and Boxing. Although I have chased buffalo with her a couple times last summer, this was her first time working a cow and it was a great confidence builder for her.
Breezy (Pocos Cisco Frost) got to have her second show experience and Carly rode her well in a huge Amateur Rookie division (Rail, Riding, Reining). She has grown into such a sweet, beautiful mare.
Buddy (Gonna Spook Ya) was a complete gentleman as we expected and such amazing confidence booster for Sarah. She was nervous about the W/T Ranch Trail class and ended up first. Super proud of this team! I also hopped on Buddy for the first time and cruised through a pattern in the Open Ranch Riding and Reining and he took 1st and 2nd. Such a cool dude he is!
Big thanks to my husband for his help and for hanging out with the kids while us girls got our horses shown. We stayed in a nice little VRBO house in downtown Roslyn (which is the cutest little town) with an awesome park across the street and they also got to enjoy the lake. Overall, good experience that tested our stamina, I think team work and late night Mexican food downtown kept us going. đ´
