With a little sedation and a lot of teamwork, we safely slid it off

T-bone really said ‘I’m gonna step on it and see what happens 🐾🐍💥

Spoiler alert: the ground hissed back.

This curious guy took a spicy step and ended up with a rattlesnake bite to the foot—but thanks to quick-thinking humans and prompt care, he’s already on the road to recovery 💉✨

Lesson from T-bone: if it hisses, maybe don’t boop it with your foot!

Tanner may have missed our rattlesnake awareness post, but his owners didn’t! After being bitten in the face, they brought him in immediately—and that fast response is exactly what can save lives in these situations 🐍

Three days later and Tanner is doing great! He returned for his follow-up looking so much better—happy owners and a pup back on his feet 🐾

Warmer weather means increased rattlesnake activity. Curious pets are at risk, especially during hikes or in rural areas 🐍

What to watch for:
• Sudden swelling (face, limbs)
• Pain or limping
• Lethargy or collapse

What to do:
• Keep your pet calm and restrict movement
• Do not attempt to treat at home
• Seek veterinary care immediately

Preventative options, including the rattlesnake vaccine, may help reduce severity—ask us if it’s right for your pet.

K9 Stella 🐾 A well-known explosive-detection canine partnered with her handler Deputy Amy on the Sacramento County Sheriff’s Airport K9 team was one of several of our counties K9’s deployed to Santa Clara in preparation for Super Bowl week by conducting behind the scene’s sweeps around Levi’s Stadium.

Super proud of Stella, Hugo, Mesi and our K9 handlers for the incredible work they do to keep us all safe 🎉

Meet our new DVM 🩺 Dr Celina Hatt is an Upstate New York native whose practice journey has taken her to Washington, Hawaii, and California for the past 25 years. She currently has a practice in Oahu, and has lived here in Northern California for the past 12 years.

She loves hiking, traveling and seeing the world through the eyes of her kids. She loves small animal medicine, and really enjoys building relationships with pet parents while celebrating the human-animal bond.

We are excited to have her join our team 🎉

Sweet Xena’s story is one of love, loss, and hope. 💔❤️
We rescued Xena a few years ago along with her puppy, and she was adopted into what we thought would be her forever home. Sadly, her adopter recently passed away from cancer, and through no fault of her own, Xena is back in our rescue.

Xena’s foster can no longer keep her, so we are urgently searching for a new forever home for this beautiful girl.

• Approximately 3–4 years old
• Spayed
• Microchipped
• Rabies vaccinated
• Loves going on walks
• Best as an only dog or in a home without another alpha
• Confident, loyal, and a true alpha girl
• An absolute sweetheart who bonds deeply with her person
