Hooves & Paws Pet Hospital will be CLOSED Monday, September 7th in observance of Labor Day. We will reopen with normal business hours on Tuesday, September 8th.

💊 Don’t forget those refills! If your pet is running low on any medications, please give us a call ahead of the holiday weekend so our team can get those filled and ready for you before we close.

🎉🐾 Congratulations to our Q1 WAG Award Winner, Sydney! 🐾🎉

Sydney has a huge love for animals and puts her whole heart and soul into what she does every day. Her compassion shows in the way she cares for pets and supports their families. That heart extends outside of the hospital too, including rescuing and caring for vulnerable little kittens who needed someone to love them. 🐱❤️

One of the things we appreciate most about Sydney is simply the way she treats people. She is warm, welcoming, and genuinely kind to everyone, no matter who they are. She has a special way of making people feel comfortable, included, and like they have a place, especially when it comes to our student interns. Our clients absolutely love her, and it’s easy to see why, she is kind, compassionate, and attentive. She brings such positive and calm energy to our hospital and is someone our doctors and team genuinely enjoy working alongside.

Sydney has also shown tremendous growth during her time at Hooves & Paws, and it has been wonderful watching her continue to develop both personally and professionally. She began with us as a technician and has recently stepped in to help support our CSR team, showing just how adaptable and willing she is to grow wherever she is needed. She’s currently in the Vet Tech Vision Program, where she’s pursuing her license to become an LVT. 🤩

Sydney, we are so proud of how much you have grown and incredibly thankful for the compassion, kindness, and heart you bring to Hooves & Paws. You are such a valued part of our team and so deserving of this recognition! 💛

🐾 You may have already seen a familiar face around Hooves & Paws… 🩺🐴

We are so excited to officially introduce Dr. Ignacio as part of the Hooves & Paws Pet Hospital family! While he’s already been spending time with our team, getting to know our hospital, our patients, and many of you, we wanted to give him the introduction he deserves. ❤️

One of the things we’re especially excited about is Dr. Ignacio’s ability to provide veterinary care in both English and Spanish. Being able to communicate with pet owners in the language they’re most comfortable with helps us provide clearer, more personal care, and we’re incredibly happy to expand the ways we can serve our Spanish-speaking families in our community. 🫶🏼

A little about Dr. Ignacio:

Dr. Ignacio grew up on his family’s ranch in a small town in Mexico, surrounded by horses, dogs, and cattle. Caring for animals from an early age sparked a lifelong passion for veterinary medicine and ultimately led him to earn his veterinary degree from UNAM.

Over the past decade, he has gained extensive experience in equine medicine through institutions including the UNAM Equine Hospital and The Donkey Sanctuary. His equine interests include routine wellness and preventative care, dental floatings, lameness evaluations, diagnostics, and field medicine. 🐴

In addition to his equine background, Dr. Ignacio also enjoys caring for small-animal patients and is excited to continue growing that part of his practice here at Hooves & Paws. Whether he’s caring for a horse, donkey, dog, or cat, his goal is to provide gentle, thorough, and compassionate care to every patient, and great communication with the people who love them. ❤️

We’re so happy to have Dr. Ignacio as part of our Hooves & Paws family and can’t wait for even more of you to meet him!

🐾 Meet our sweet girl Brownie who is looking for her forever home! 🐾

This beautiful girl is a medium-sized mixed breed (possibly Pit Bull Terrier mix) with a BIG personality and an even bigger heart! ❤️

She is basically a professional toy enthusiast 😂 and is always ready for some fun! Her favorite activities include:

🧸 Playing with squeaky toys
🪢 Tug-of-war (she takes this VERY seriously 😂)
🎾 Working hard on mastering fetch
🐶 Playing with other dogs
👋 Making friends with her favorite humans

She is energetic, playful, affectionate, and loves people! She has done well with other dogs and would love a family who can keep up with her playful personality and give her plenty of love, attention, toys, and adventures. 🥰

We are unsure how she feels about cats, so a cat introduction would need to be done carefully.

Because she is sensitive about grabbing or touching around her neck, we feel she would do best in a home without young children who may not understand her boundaries. She is looking for someone who will respect her sensitivities, give her time to feel comfortable, and love her for the goofy, playful girl she is. ❤️

🐾‼️ FOUND PET! PLEASE SHARE! ‼️🐾

This very sweet girl was found by one of our doctors, near the Executive Suites around 8700 US Highway 380 and is currently safe with us at Hooves & Paws Pet Hospital while we try to locate her family. 💛

She is very sweet, but definitely timid and a little nervous right now. She has been warming up to our team throughout the day. Unfortunately, she does not have a microchip, so we’re hoping the power of social media can help us get her home!

A big thank you to Brittany! ❤️

After four wonderful years at Hooves & Paws, Brittany is beginning an exciting new chapter, and we couldn’t let it pass without celebrating everything she’s has meant to our team. 🫶

Looking back through years of photos reminded us just how many laughs, milestones, and memories we’ve shared. Brittany has cared for so many of our patients and clients with kindness and compassion, and we’re incredibly grateful for everything she’s poured into our hospital.

While we’re going to miss seeing her smiling face every day, we’re so excited for her and know she’s going to do amazing things. Thank you for everything, Brittany, you’ll always be part of the Hooves family. 🐾🐶💕

🐴 Horse folks, this one’s for you! 🤠

Around here, horses aren’t just animals, they’re family, partners, and a way of life. That’s why we’re excited to continue growing our equine services with more veterinarians who love caring for them.

Dr. Madison Firth’s journey into veterinary medicine began at 18 years old while volunteering at a veterinary hospital in her hometown of Toronto, Canada. She later worked as a veterinary assistant during college before earning her DVM from Ross University and completing her clinical training at the University of Minnesota.

After graduation, Dr. Firth dedicated the next two years to advanced training in equine medicine and surgery at referral-level equine hospitals, gaining valuable experience caring for horses of all kinds. Now, she and her husband have planted roots here in North Texas, and she’s excited to build lasting relationships with horse owners throughout our community.

Whether your horse needs routine wellness care, vaccines, lameness evaluations, dentistry, or just a veterinarian who understands the unique needs of equine athletes and companions alike, Dr. Firth is here to help.

🐎 And speaking of horses…

Her husband, Devin Mayhugh, is a farrier who is also excited to serve the North Texas horse community! Devin has experience with therapeutic shoeing and works with donkeys, miniature horses, and full-sized horses. If you’re looking for a farrier, we’d be happy to connect you with him, too!

‼️ UPDATE!! Smokey came back home!! He’s a smart boy and decided to come back home after a night out with the fireworks. Dr. Lensey is so relieved! Thank you to everyone that shared this post. 🥰

🚨 Missing Pet – Please Help Us Find Smokey ‼️

One of our doctors’ beloved dogs, Smokey, became frightened by the fireworks last night and ran from home. He is not known to wander, and his family is actively searching for him. He is microchipped.

Last seen in the Pilot Point area near Friendship Road & FM 1385.
