๐ February is Dog Training Education month, so I thought I'd take a moment to share a few reasons for taking the leap into addressing a dog's separation-related issues.
๐โ๐ฆบ 1) The biggest reason for most of my clients is to get their freedom back. Many owners have altered their schedules so that their dog is never left home alone, which can be very isolating for the human. Building your dog's confidence to stay home alone means getting back to your life.
๐ฆฎ 2) Other owners who have no choice but to leave the house have experienced the stress of arriving home to damaged property, or even worse, an injured dog! Dogs can injure themselves breaking out of kennels, ingesting foreign materials from stress chewing, trying to claw through doorways, or even breaking through windows! We want dog-owners to feel confident when leaving the house, knowing there is nothing to worry about back at home.
๐ฉ 3) Chronic stress, as we know with humans and all animals, can have great negative impacts on physical health, as well as bleed into mental health in other areas of life. Many dogs who come to us to address their separation-related issues often see relief in other areas of their life as well, simply by removing this daily stressor of panicking when left home alone.
๐ฃIf your dog experiences panic upon being left home alone, we would love to talk with you about what your options are for training. See our website to fill out the contact form to request a FREE initial consultation.
