24 DOGS and 17 CATS found their forever homes in ONE day—now that’s something to celebrate! 🎉

Because you showed up and showed out, so many of our animals finally got the fresh start they deserved. The success of our very first Clear the Kennels event is truly incredible, and we couldn’t have done it without you! 💙

Missed out on the event? Don’t worry! We still have 80 cats and 180 dogs waiting for their chance. Every single one of them is deserving of love and a home. We open tomorrow at 9:30am, so come on down and help us clear the kennels, not just yesterday—but EVERY day! 👏✨

Thank you for supporting your local shelter and for helping us show why it’s always better to adopt, not shop. 🏠🐾

Our staff do so much behind the scenes that often goes unrecognized — from caring for the animals to handling adoptions, paperwork, phone calls, and more. Theresa, who many of you know from our front desk, is just one example of the heart our team puts into this work. She truly cares about every outcome for the animals in our facility.

Her highlighted pup is Banjo! You can adopt him for FREE tomorrow at our Clear the Kennels event. By adopting, you’re not only saving a life, but also showing our staff how much their hard work means. Plus, you’ll make Theresa’s day extra special! 🩷🐾

SHELTER REOPENING ANNOUNCEMENT

To Our Valued Community,

We are pleased to announce that Merced County Animal Services has been cleared from our recent Canine Distemper concerns, and the Animal Shelter at 2150 Shuttle Drive is now back to regular intake days and full operations.

The health and safety of the animals in our care—and of pets throughout the community—remain our top priority. Thanks to the hard work of our staff, veterinarians, and rescue partners, we were able to successfully quarantine, sanitize, and restore our facility to a safe environment for all animals.

As we reopen, we strongly encourage all pet owners to:
• Vaccinate your dogs, especially with the DHPP vaccine (Distemper, Hepatitis, Parvovirus, and Parainfluenza).
• Microchip your pets to help reunite them quickly if they are ever lost.

Taking these simple but vital steps will help protect your pets, reduce the risk of illness, and keep them out of the shelter.
We are grateful for the patience and support our community has shown during this temporary closure. We are even happier to be reopening just in time for our Clear the Shelters event—a perfect opportunity for families to meet their new best friends.

For questions, please contact us at 209-385-7436 or email [email protected].
