I had to make a tough call with my own dog😢 and cut her coat down due to ongoing skin issues. It’s never something I like doing—especially knowing how important proper coat care is—but her comfort and health had to come first.
As a groomer, I always try to do what’s best for each dog, even when it’s not ideal. This was one of those times.

Quick education for anyone curious: Double-coated breeds aren’t meant to be shaved or cut very short under normal circumstances. Their coat helps regulate temperature, protects their skin, and supports healthy growth cycles. Cutting it too short can lead to issues like uneven regrowth, coat damage, overheating, and increased risk of sunburn.

🐶🐾That said, there are situations—like medical or skin conditions—where it becomes necessary. It should always be done carefully and for the dog’s well-being above all else.

With a heavy heart, I want to share that I will be out of the shop until Friday due to the passing of my mother.
