Sometimes an organization's name just makes you smile. Then when you find out more about the organization you smile even more. That's how we feel about the next rescue in the spotlight, Totally Flocked Avian Rescue!
Our next Rescue Spotlight shines on Totally Flocked Avian Rescue in Florida.
When asked what their mission is Totally Flocked replied “Our mission is to rescue, rehabilitate, and provide a safe, stable landing for parrots in transition, a place where they can decompress, be understood, and start fresh
We focus on what they need, not what is easy. That means proper diet, enrichment, structure, and time to decompress and feel safe again. We do not rush the process. We do not cut corners. And we do not place birds just to move them along. The right home matters.
Education is at the core of everything we do. Many of the issues that bring parrots into rescue are preventable. We are committed to helping people understand these complex, intelligent animals so fewer birds end up needing a second chance.
For those who can be adopted, we work to find homes where they can thrive. For those who cannot, we provide lifelong sanctuary where they are safe, respected, and cared for.
Every decision we make comes back to one thing.

Hay friends,
It’s $2 Tuesday ⭐️
We worked on the new tortoise pen over the holiday weekend. The rain slowed us down a bit. There are several other yard projects that we need materials to complete; such as a rabbit hutches, expanding the goat pen, and building an outdoor aviary 🦜
⭐️ We are very appreciative of all the support we have received since we started this journey as an official 501c3 nonprofit animal rescue ⭐️
In addition to building materials, we are in need of reptile substrate, frozen feeders, F10 sanitizer, and toys/enrichment items🐇

Running a rescue is hard. It takes a lot of money, not to mention the physical labor and emotional toll. Before you take to the Internet bashing someone, make sure you have all the facts and receipts. We stand in support of each other.
If anyone thinks they can do a better job, then by all means sink your financial resources and time into it. Rescue is not for profit. It’s not for clout. It’s not for a pat on the back. It’s a passion and anything less than that just won’t go the distance.

It has come to our attention that someone has been spreading false rumors about our rescue. Not only that, but this individual has reportedly contacted another rescue to make accusations about how we operate, even going as far as calling us “breeders” and falsely claiming that we take advantage of elderly individuals when it comes to relinquished birds.

These accusations are completely false, deeply offensive, and honestly disappointing.

We do not rush people, pressure anyone, or operate in a pushy manner. In fact, we often have a waiting list. Our goal has always been to do what is best for the birds, not to make quick decisions or force outcomes.

If anyone believes we are “bird flippers,” we encourage you to speak with our previous adopters and the families we have worked with over the years. Transparency matters to us, and we are proud of the relationships we have built within our community.

Our adoption fees are more than reasonable and are often lower than many rescues. In many cases, we have even waived fees for the right homes. We have also personally provided food, supplies, and other essentials out of our own pockets to help both birds and families succeed.

All of this appears to be based on a brief phone conversation and the fact that one individual “didn’t get a good vibe.” In addition, we met in person to pick up a Java Tree for an elderly woman, who is also my friend and did not have access to a pickup truck. We were simply helping.

If a brief interaction over the phone did not leave the impression you hoped for, that is your opinion, and you are entitled to it. However, our mission has never been to please everyone or tell people what they want to hear. Our focus has always been, and will always be, helping the birds.

Running a rescue means making difficult decisions, setting boundaries, and sometimes saying things people may not like. Protecting the birds in our care must always come first.

What is especially unfortunate is the attempt to damage our reputation behind the scenes through false accusations and misinformation. One thing people should understand is that reputable rescues communicate with one another. Transparency, networking, and collaboration are important parts of rescue work.

At the end of the day, false accusations do not help birds. We remain committed to what we have always done: helping birds in need with compassion, honesty, and integrity.

If anyone ever has concerns, questions, or hears something about our rescue, we encourage you to come directly to us. We have always been transparent in how we operate and are proud of the work we do every single day for the birds in our care.

Our home is open for scheduled meet-and-greets and approved visitors by appointment. As a registered nonprofit, we are incredibly proud of how far we have come and the community that has supported us along the way.

We will continue doing exactly what we have always done: advocating for birds, helping families, and putting the well-being of the feathered kids above drama.

Our next Rescue Spotlight shines on Feathered Friends of Mobile in Alabama.

When asked to describe the mission of the rescue this was Cristal’s answer

“Feathered Friends of Mobile is dedicated to giving parrots a second chance at life, and every bird who enters our care becomes part of our family.

Our mission is to provide compassionate care, rehabilitation, and education while helping our feathered kids find safe, qualified, and loving homes. We believe education is the foundation for successful placements and lifelong commitment to these incredible birds. We strive to create a better future for parrots in need by providing advocacy, support, and understanding”

The Oliver Tree Parrot Rescue is committed to transforming the lives of parrots through compassionate rescue, rehabilitation, and education.
