🐶Siberian Husky Grooming Tips 101🐶
People assume that because of the Siberian Husky's thick coat, that it must be a difficult job to groom the Siberian Husky. However, this could not be further from the truth, because in actuality the Siberian Husky is a very low maintenance dog, when it comes to grooming, requiring only minimum grooming when compared to many other breeds. Furthermore, Siberian Huskies generally need baths infrequently, typically every 3-4 months. Over-bathing can strip their natural oils and cause skin problems. Siberian Huskies are actually one of the cleanest dog breeds due to their double coat, which includes a thick undercoat and a coarser outer coat. Their coat helps them stay relatively clean and protects them from most common parasites. They are also known to self-groom, much like cats, cleaning themselves with their tongues, therefore requiring minimal bathing, due to their natural cleanliness and grooming habits and they only need bath a few times a year, or even less frequently. Though bathing might be necessary if your husky becomes particularly muddy or dirty, or if you notice they have a strong odor, a bath every 3-4 months is usually sufficient. When a bath is needed, use a gentle, dog-specific shampoo and rinse thoroughly to avoid shampoo residue. Regular brushing is more important for the Siberian Husky than frequent bathing, especially during shedding season, to remove loose fur and maintain a healthy coat.
