🍣🐾 Sushi is an FIP Survivor! 🐾🍣
Not long ago, FIP was considered almost always fatal in cats. Today, thanks to advancing treatment options and dedicated care, many cats like Sushi are getting a second chance at life 💛
So… what is FIP?
🐱 FIP (Feline Infectious Peritonitis) is a serious disease caused by a mutation of the feline coronavirus. It most commonly affects kittens and young cats, but cats of any age can develop it.
⚠️ Common signs of FIP can include:
• Persistent fever
• Weight loss
• Low energy or hiding
• Loss of appetite
• Fluid buildup causing a swollen belly
• Trouble breathing
• Neurologic signs like wobbliness or seizures
• Eye inflammation or vision changes
There are different forms of FIP, and symptoms can look very different from cat to cat — which can make diagnosis challenging.
✨ The good news: FIP is no longer considered a hopeless diagnosis. Early recognition, supportive veterinary care, and treatment can lead to incredible success stories like Sushi’s.
Today, Sushi is thriving, loved, and proving just how resilient cats can be 🐈💪
If your cat isn’t acting like themselves, don’t ignore subtle changes — early intervention matters. Always reach out to your veterinarian with concerns. 💙
