Watch as Dr. Jackson examines this sweet puppy after developing some mild stomach upset. The owner mentioned that they recently gave the puppy an orange as a treat. While oranges are not toxic to dogs, introducing new foods can sometimes lead to digestive upset, especially in young puppies with sensitive stomachs.

Fortunately, this puppy is still bright, playful, and feeling well overall. After a thorough examination, Dr. Jackson recommended outpatient treatment and home monitoring, with a follow-up in a few days to ensure everything is back on track.

When offering treats, remember that even safe foods should be given in moderation and introduced gradually.

Watch as Dr. Jackson carefully anesthetizes a 19-year-old cat for surgery to remove a mammary tumor.

Many pet owners become understandably concerned when an older cat needs anesthesia. While age is an important consideration, the patient's overall health is often more important than the number of birthdays they have celebrated. Before anesthesia, Dr. Jackson performs a thorough physical examination, reviews pre-operative lab work, and develops an anesthetic plan tailored specifically to the patient.

Senior cats require special attention because they may have underlying conditions affecting the kidneys, liver, heart, or other organs. Careful monitoring before, during, and after anesthesia helps reduce risk and allows the team to respond quickly if concerns arise.

Mammary tumors in cats are especially important to address because the majority are malignant. Early diagnosis and surgical removal can improve comfort and may improve long-term outcomes. Any new lump or swelling along a cat's mammary chain should be evaluated by a veterinarian as soon as possible.

Despite being 19 years old, this sweet cat showed remarkable strength and determination. Cases like this remind us that advanced age alone does not automatically mean a pet cannot undergo anesthesia or surgery. Every patient deserves an individualized assessment and treatment plan.

Ever wonder what happens when you drop your pet off for a dental cleaning?

It's a lot more than just cleaning teeth.

First, Dr. Jackson performs a physical exam and reviews your pet's pre-operative lab work. We listen to the heart and lungs and make sure your pet is healthy enough for anesthesia.

Next, an IV catheter is placed before anesthesia so fluids and medications can be administered throughout the procedure. Once your pet is safely asleep, we perform a complete oral examination, take dental X-rays, and clean the teeth above and below the gumline.

Dental X-rays are one of the most important parts of the procedure because many painful dental problems are hidden below the gumline and can't be seen during a routine exam. If damaged, infected, or loose teeth are found, extractions may be recommended to relieve pain and improve your pet's quality of life.

Many pets continue to eat and act normal even when they have significant dental disease. That's why regular dental care is so important.

A healthy mouth means a healthier pet!

Watch closely as Dr. Jackson works through this challenging medical case. During the initial examination, he immediately noticed that the patient was extremely weak and not acting like himself. As the exam continued, Dr. Jackson discovered jaundice, a yellow discoloration that can indicate serious underlying disease involving the liver, gallbladder, red blood cells, or other critical body systems.

After discussing the findings and possible causes with the owner, Dr. Jackson explained the available options. Unfortunately, some medical conditions can carry a poor prognosis, and pet owners are sometimes faced with difficult decisions regarding treatment versus humane euthanasia. These conversations are never easy, but they are an important part of advocating for a pet's comfort and quality of life.

Our hearts go out to this family as they consider the best path forward for their beloved companion.

Dr. Jackson had the pleasure of seeing Larche' today for a wellness visit and an ear infection. Ear infections are a common problem in dogs and can be very painful if left untreated. Signs of an ear infection may include head shaking, scratching at the ears, redness, odor, or discharge.

After a thorough examination, Dr. Jackson developed a treatment plan to help Larche' feel better. While he was here, we also updated his vaccines to help protect him from preventable diseases.

Routine wellness exams are one of the best ways to keep your pets healthy and catch problems early. If your pet is showing signs of an ear infection or is due for vaccines, give us a call to schedule an appointment.

This cat came into urgent care after falling 7 stories from a high-rise building. Dr. Jackson immediately performed an emergency triage to rule out life-threatening injuries and make sure the cat was stable.

During the exam, Dr. Jackson found a large laceration inside the mouth along with multiple broken bones. Considering the severity of the fall, this cat is extremely lucky. After receiving pain medication, the cat became much more comfortable and was doing surprisingly well.

Cases like this are a reminder of how important immediate veterinary care can be after any traumatic injury. Cats are very good at hiding pain, even when serious injuries are present.

Thankfully, Dr. Jackson expects this cat to make a full recovery. 🐾

Remember Bella, the sweet dog who had a neck tumor removed by Dr. Jackson? Today she came in to have her sutures removed! 🐾

Bella is healing beautifully and already back to her happy self. Her incision looks great, and she barely seems to know she even had surgery. Seeing recoveries like this always makes our day. ❤️

It’s important to have lumps and bumps checked early because some masses can continue to grow or become more serious over time. Early treatment can make a big difference.

Simon, an indoor/outdoor cat, came in today for evaluation of a previous leg fracture. During his exam, Dr. Jackson determined that the fracture is likely already healing. Unfortunately, the injury is severe enough that Simon may eventually require a leg amputation.

One major challenge is that Simon’s owner explained she may not be able to keep him indoors full time. Cats that undergo amputations should ideally remain indoors for their safety, healing, and long-term quality of life. Outdoor environments can be much more dangerous for three-legged cats.

Dr. Jackson is carefully working through the best possible treatment plan while considering both Simon’s medical needs and home situation. Cases like this remind us that veterinary medicine is not always straightforward, and every decision must be made with the pet’s overall well-being in mind.

For now, Simon is still happy, comfortable, and enjoying life while the next steps are being considered. Please keep Simon in your thoughts. 🐾
