The packer lobby argues consumers don't care where their beef comes from. The American people disagree.
• 86% of American voters support legislation that reinstates mandatory country-of-origin labeling for beef.
• 77% of voters believe it is important that the beef they purchase was born, raised, and harvested in the United States.
An overwhelming number of American voters want Congress to enact MCOOL for beef.
Grocery stores already use origin labels on seafood, fruits, vegetables, and other proteins. Beef is the outlier. Adding origin labeling to beef simply gives consumers the same transparency they already expect across the rest of the grocery store.
The Senate Agriculture Committee is expected to begin marking up the Farm Bill next week. Now is the time to make your voice heard.
