Happy new year everyone! We have some great news to share: Dr. Maddie Redd has joined our practice as an associate veterinarian. Some of you may have already met her. We're thrilled to have her join our team and it is a pleasure for us to introduce you to her:
Dr. Maddie Redd grew up in the suburbs of Chicago. As a kid, she always enjoyed biology, medicine, and helping animals in her community, leading her on the path to veterinary medicine. She first attended Colorado State University where she studied biology and veterinary sciences, graduating in 2017 with a Bachelors in Biomedical Sciences. While in Fort Collins, CO, she spent a significant amount of time supporting the local community to provide pet care and veterinary services to community members in need and to the local shelter programs. She also worked within the veterinary clinical pathology lab running critical lab samples for numerous years before being accepted into the Veterinary program at Washington State University out in the beautiful Palouse. Dr. Maddie graduated veterinary school in May 2023. Her first job was in rural mixed animal practice on the southern Oregon coast where she worked on many different types of animals and cases from general care to emergency work. After finding out her partner was accepted to a position for work on the east coast, Dr. Maddie moved to New England in September 2024 to start a new adventure, joining Family Pet Veterinary Services in October 2024. Her interests in the field include internal medicine, urgent care, end-of-life care, small ruminant care and rural community medicine. Dr. Maddie is very passionate about working together with pet families to create and provide a health plan that ensures quality care for every pet over a lifetime.
When not in the clinic, you can most likely find Dr. Maddie out hiking or backpacking in the mountains with her dog Jade. She hopes to explore all the different trails New England and the east coast have to offer (and she is always looking for good recommendations!). She also loves traveling and trying new foods or ciders. If she's not on the trail or exploring, she spends much of her time caring for her 2 beloved cats, Oliver and Meeko, and her very special horse, a mustang named Snickers.
Dr. Maddie looks forward to this new chapter of life and getting to know the community!
