Riverside Rabbitry and Rescue

Riverside Rabbitry and Rescue I am a conscientious hobbyist, focused on shaded Netherland Dwarfs , Jersey Wooly & fawn Flemish. I keep pedigreed stock with show potential.

Pets available on occasion, being carefully placed in homes. I will do rescue on a priority basis. I am a rabbit hobbyist, and breed Netherland Dwarfs (shaded variety) Holland Lops (BEW & Sable PT), and BEW Lionheads. I prefer to stay small in order to keep my rabbits personally pampered. I do have babies & jr.'s available of all breeds listed from time to time, in order to cover the costs of the

Rabbitry upkeep. Check back often to see what might become available. I have both non-pedigree pet quality & pedigreed, show potential rabbits. I will also, room permitting, accept rescues.

Pretty strange!

The unusually acrobatic sauteur d’Alfort rabbits were first discovered in France in 1935

I am sad to say that due to the Stage4 metatastic breast cancer that I have been living with the past 3+ yrs, and a recent reemergence, I have had to make hard decisions. Decisions on where to place my energy. Rabbits will not be part of that choice. I am closing my Rabbitry for the second and last time. A fellow breeder in Canajoharie NY, Marigrace Hoag, will be taking all that's left of my stock tomorrow, as well as most of my Rabbitry supplies. Thank you to my followers, and I wish you all the best, especially for the New Year! God bless everyone!

Moved the Rabbitry back inside for the winter! Time to focus on breeding. Looking to see more gorgeous sable pt. and himi Netherland dwarfs, and hoping to change up my shaded Jersey Woolies for Orange, torte and broken orange in January. My fawn pr of Flemish giants, Thor and Frieda, are now mature enough to breed as well, and they come from a breeder of 30+ yrs experience and show winners all along the east coast. It will be an interesting new year! Here's to 2021!

Before I place any of my rabbits with anyone, as my policy, I always ask a few questions:
1- what age child /children is this for ?
2- where and how will the rabbits be housed ie: inside, outside, if outside, in a sheltered place?
3- if you've had a rabbit(s) before and they died, how ?
4-If housed inside, what other indoor pets do you have, and how do you plan on keeping the rabbit safe?
I take the responsibility of placing my rabbits seriously, and for the most part place with other breeders, show folks, or 4H'ers. I seldom place as "pets", because for whatever reason, that usually ends up as the least favorable situation. Thats why rabbits are now the #3 pet turned into shelters - and that doesn't account for Craigslist "rehoming" or people just thinking they can let their rabbits "free" and expect them to survive in the wild. πŸ™„ If you cannot answer those questions, then I cannot place one of my rabbits with you. That is my policy. Thank you.
