Happy K9 Veterans Day! 🇺🇸🐾

Today, we honor the courageous four-legged warriors who have served alongside our troops, officers, and handlers with unwavering loyalty and bravery. From the battlefields to our streets, these incredible K9s have protected, rescued, and stood guard without hesitation—asking only for love and a mission in return.

To every military working dog, police K9, search-and-rescue pup, and service dog who has dedicated their life to duty, we salute you. And to those who have crossed the rainbow bridge, your legacy of devotion and sacrifice will never be forgotten.

A special thank you to the handlers, adopters, and rescuers who ensure these heroes are honored, loved, and given the retirement they deserve.

Once a warrior, always a warrior. 🐕❤️🎖️

Today's weather update: The Athens area can expect to see snow Friday morning followed by a “wintry mix” of snow, sleet, and freezing rain in the afternoon and Friday evening. We are predicted to see less than 2" of snowfall and up to 0.25" of ice accumulation. This large amount of ice means that we're looking at very dangerous travel conditions, as well as the large possibility of power outages.

So, what can you do to prepare?

🚗 Limit travel as much as possible! If you must drive, clean off your vehicle before getting on the road, leave extra distance between you and other vehicles, and keep it slow and steady.
🔦 Assemble a kit for your home - make sure you have bottled water, snacks, and medication to get you through the weekend.
🧥 Ensure you have warm blankets and warm clothing - dress appropriately if you must go outside.
🔌 Charge your phone and other devices Thursday, keep a weather radio close by if possible.
🚰 Lastly, if your home experiences frozen/busted pipes - do NOT call 911. Turn off your water and open the faucets.
