Licensed Veterinary Technician

If so, Athens Veterinary Services might just be your new work home.

We’re a growing, 2-doctor rural practice in Athens, MI, serving primarily dogs and cats—with some work with pigs, goats, sheep, cattle, and horses. We have a sister large animal clinic in Battle Creek.

We’re looking for a Veterinary Technician who is:
· Passionate about the client–pet–staff bond
· Confident & skilled in all aspects of patient care
· Physically capable of heavy lifting and active, hands-on work
· Flexible with hours, including occasional weekends
· A positive, motivated team player eager to learn and grow
· Enthusiastic, adaptable, and self-motivated
What You’ll Do:
· Assist doctors in medical, surgical, and diagnostic procedures
· Manage and maintain the surgical suite
· Provide ICU care, place IV catheters, perform phlebotomy
· Manage lab testing
· Communicate with and educate clients
· Maintain accurate patient records and billing
· Manage medications and clinic inventory

🌟 Farewell & Best Wishes, Jessie Miller! 🌟
After 7 incredible years with us, we’re saying goodbye to our amazing veterinary technician, Jessie, as she embarks on a new professional adventure.
She has been a vital part of our team since the early years of AVS—bringing compassion and skill to every patient and client she worked with.
While we’re sad to see her go, we’re also so excited for what’s ahead for her. Please join us in thanking Jessie for her years of hard work and wishing her all the best in her next chapter!

🌞🔥 Extreme Heat Alert: Keep Your Pets Cool & Safe! 🔥🌞
With temperatures soaring, it’s crucial to protect your furry friends from the dangers of extreme heat. Here are some tips to help keep them safe:

💧 Provide plenty of fresh, cool water at all times.
🏡 Keep animals indoors or in shaded areas during the hottest parts of the day.
🧊 Offer cooling options like frozen treats, cooling mats, or kiddie pools.
🚶‍♂️ Walk dogs early morning or late evening when the pavement is cooler.
🐾 Never leave pets in parked cars — even for a minute. Temps can skyrocket in seconds.
⚠ Signs of heatstroke include excessive panting, lethargy, vomiting, and collapse. If you suspect heatstroke, call your vet immediately.
🧊Stay cool, take care of yourself and your pets!
