Did you know dogs sweat mainly through their paw pads? 🐾
That’s right! Their sweat glands are mostly in their paws, which is why you might spot damp little paw prints on a hot day. But sweating isn’t how they mostly cool off. That job goes to panting. 🐶

This little heartbreaker is just full of love. 🥺

We had such a great time filming all of the Dachshunds for this week's Breed of the Week. We planned for a quick shoot and ended up with a lot of cuddle breaks. Every time we set up the camera, someone wanted to climb into a lap instead! 🐶

It's easy to see why so many families choose Dachshunds:

They're loyal and love being close to their people.
They have big, brave personalities in small bodies.
They come in two sizes and three coat types.
They love to play, and they love to snuggle even more.

Like every breed, they do best with a little extra care, especially for that long back. Our pet counselors at Petland Athens are always happy to talk through what life with a Dachshund looks like.

Thanks for following along with Dachshund week! Do you have a Doxie at home? Tell us their name and share a photo in the comments. We'd love to meet them. 💛
