Hi everyone!

I wanted to make a formal introduction post for those that are new to my page. My name is Abigail Hoffman and I am the owner of Synergy K9, LLC! I am currently an Independent Contractor with Blue Stripe K9 where I provide board and train services, as well as private lessons, and group classes to the Nashville area.

In 2023 I attended Kennelwood Academy for Professional Dog Trainers in Union, Missouri, where I learned about tracking, specific odor detection, competitive obedience, and more. This is where my introduction to the dog industry began, and I have been training professionally since graduating the program in July of 2023.

I strive to make a positive impact on all of my client's lives, and help them develop a healthy, long-lasting relationship with their companions. If you are struggling with your dog I'd love to help you get on the right track!

Read it, and read it again- Boundaries can make your relationship with your dog BETTER!

Think about it, coming home to trash spewed all over the house, jumping on guests, and barking at the mail man causes additional stress. No one wants that.

Simple rules such as a place command, a sit or down, and crate training can make a world of difference. Dogs crave leadership, step up into that position or they will!

Five words is all it takes for someone to “be a dog trainer.” The industry unregulated, there’s no schooling, or exam required to pass before anyone can claim that they are a professional dog trainer.

With that being said, it’s important to vet your trainer prior to sending your dog off to training. Most trainers are going to want to do some sort of evaluation or consultation before the dog enters a training program. Use that time to ask them questions like:

“Where did you receive your education?”

“What philosophy/principals do you use while training?”

“What are some practices you implement to lower the risks of my dog catching an illness in your facility?”

Seeing the training facility in person, as well as reading reviews is always a good place to start when searching for a place to have your dog trained!

Just because someone says they are a reputable/responsible/ethical breeder, doesn’t mean they actually are.

If you choose to purchase a puppy from a breeder, do your research! An ethical breeder will: ⭐️

- Health test their dogs (elbows, hips, etc)

- Only breed proven and/or titled dogs to BETTER the breed

- Will accept the dog back if you are unable to keep them, no matter how old the dog is

A Responsible Breeder Does Not: 🚫

- Advertise puppies as Christmas presents

- Breed out of standard colors (silver, charcoal labs, Merle Frenchies, etc)

- Allow dogs they bred to end up in shelters

Meet Ollie, a Golden Retriever who just finished a 5-week Board and Train with me! Ollie’s mom is recently paralyzed, so he learned some additional skills to help make life at home a bit easier.

In the 5-weeks Ollie learned:
- Sit
- Down
- Loose leash walking
- Place
- Recall
- How to walk next to an electric wheelchair
- A trained retrieve to pick up dropped items
- Crate manners
- Improved dog neutrality

I’m so happy I could help this family, and I know Ollie can’t wait to see his people soon!

Rochester Minnesota Kennel Club Obedience Trial 2023

This both mine and Oliver’s first trial! It went great, we placed 2nd in our Novice A class, scoring 191/200!

Oliver did great, all the lost points came from handler error. First leg of our CD title is in the books, onto the next!

The “down on recall” is an exercise in the AKC Open Obedience test. Oliver is still working towards his Novice title, but once that is fulfilled we hope to go for our Open title as well!
