We are sharing this information because we get this question often. "Do I have to vaccinate my cat for Rabies if they are indoors?" Almost everyone who has had a bat in their house, have no idea how it got in. They can squeeze through the smallest cracks and crevices. Let's do our part and vaccinate for Rabies 🐾💉🩺❤️

Today is and this year's theme is "Act Now: You, Me Community,” marking the first time in its 19-year history that the theme does not include the word "rabies," showing how well-established this movement has become. Whether you are an individual, part of an organization, or a decision-maker, the time to act is today. Here are some key takeaways from our "Rabies in the U.S." infographic.
🔵 In 2023, rabid animals in the U.S. totaled 3,760 - an increase of 5.1% from 3,579 in 2022.
🦇 Bats were the most frequently reported rabid animal in the U.S. in 2023. Over 1/3 of animal rabies cases in the U.S. in 2023 were bats.
0️⃣ Human cases of rabies in the U.S., Canada, and Mexico in 2023.

Remember, the best way to protect your animals from this deadly disease is through vaccination and to keep them away from wildlife that can spread the disease. Learn more at avma.org/Rabies.

February is Dental Health Month!

Tip #1: Whenever you are purchasing dental care products for your pets, make sure they have the VOHC stamp of approval on the package. The Veterinary Oral Health Council has approved certain products that have been proven to be safe and effective for your pets.

Tip #2: If you choose to use human toothpaste for your pets, be aware that some toothpaste contains Xylitol which is toxic to your pets. Be sure to check the ingredients before using or purchase a dog specific toothpaste.

Tip #3: Greenies are a popular product to help minimize tartar buildup but keep in mind that they can add extra calories if given too frequently. We usually recommend making that a special treat only a few times a week.

Tip #4: Dental diets are an easy way keep your pet's teeth clean and even eliminate tartar that has already built up. The kibble is larger which requires them to actually bite into it and the enzymes help clean the teeth as they chew. Most pets swallow their food whole which in turn causes tartar buildup. This food can be given as a regular diet or as treats. Ask for a prescription approval to get your pet on track for a healthy mouth!
