Animal Rehab Center

Animal Rehab Center Animal Rehab Center is Asheville NC's premiere physical rehabilitation center focused on pet pain ma

Animal Rehab Center provides physical rehabilitation for Asheville NC's beloved pet family members. Physical rehabilitation in animals is based on similar principles as therapy in people. Depending on the condition being treated, various exercises are performed to increase range of motion, improve balance, and overall strengthen muscles. Pain reduction is also an important part of rehab and can be

accomplished with a variety of mechanisms such as massage, therapeutic laser and ultrasound, electrical stimulation, and ice/heat therapy. Initially rehab treatments may be aimed towards decreasing pain and inflammation, then improving range of motion and balance, and later improving performance, stamina and muscle size. Conditions improved with physical rehab vary from arthritis and mobility limitations, to degenerative neurological conditions, to orthopedic surgical recovery. Animal Rehab Center is pleased to offer aquatic therapy, which includes a swimming pool and underwater treadmill, as well as "land" or ground exercises to improve coordination and strength. Treatment modalities include therapeutic cold laser, therapeutic ultrasound, neuromuscular electrical stimulation, Physio-balls and balance balls, Cavaletti poles, and ground treadmills. Patients of the Animal Rehab Center are initially evaluated by a Certified Canine Rehabilitation Practitioner (CCRP)- Dr. Beth Rhyne or Dr. Mark Ledyard of Charlotte Street Animal Hospital. This consultation can occur at the Animal Rehab Center office, or at Charlotte Street Animal Hospital. Once admitted into the rehab program, patients are assessed and daily treatments are developed then overseen by one of our CCRP's. Our highly trained staff conducts the physical rehabilitation either while owners wait, or during the course of the day.
