I SPENT ALL SAVINGS ON FIXING MY CHILDHOOD HOME — THEN MY MOM GAVE IT TO MY SIL AS "A GIFT FOR THE REAL DAUGHTER"
My childhood home wasn't fancy — just a creaky two-bedroom with warped floors and bad plumbing. When my mom inherited money and moved into a luxury apartment, she told me, "Fix it up and it will be yours — you've earned it."
I had been saving for years to buy a home, but I used that money to fix the house I thought was mine. New roof, electrical, appliances — two years of weekends, savings, and heart.
Then everything crumbled.
At my sister-in-law Amanda's birthday party, my mom stood and handed Amanda the envelope.
"I have a gift. It's time that house belonged to my REAL DAUGHTER."
It was the deed. To the house. My house. Signed over.
Everyone clapped. I stood there, FROZEN.
Later, I pulled Mom aside, demanding answers. She shrugged.
"Amanda will give me grandkids. You have no man, no plans, and no children. I want the house to go to someone building a real family."
I moved out within a week. Used the last of my savings to rent a studio. She never called.
Five years passed. I built a new life — new home, job promotion, a wonderful husband, and a beautiful baby girl.
Then one day at the park, I ran into one of my mom's old friends. She blinked when she saw me.
"I always knew KARMA WOULD DO ITS JOB ON THEM."
"Them? Karma? What do you mean?" I asked.
