Meet Michelangelo
Michelangelo has been in Catsbury’s care since January 2025, when he and his brother, Donatello, were found by their foster parents, Melissa and Alex.
The boys were still young, so we brought them into our care, got them settled, and followed our normal vetting protocols. When it came time for their neuter appointments, we learned that both boys had tested positive for FeLV, also known as feline leukemia virus.
Because FeLV can be contagious to other cats, and Catsbury Park is a communal adoption lounge, we knew we wouldn’t be able to bring the boys into the lounge to meet potential adopters.
But we were not giving up on them.
Our friends at generously offered to house both boys in their adoption suite, giving them a safe place to be seen and loved. Eventually they found an adopter and we were all so excited! Unfortunately, the adoption did not move forward after the applicant became concerned about gingivitis noted in their medical records.
So we were back at square one.
And then another blow came a few weeks later when Donatello was rushed to the vet for trouble breathing and ultimately passed away from complications of the virus. We were devastated beyond comprehension. Heartbroken for Donatello, and so sad for Michelangelo, who had lost his brother and the only buddy he had ever really known.
Thanks to his incredible fosters, Michelangelo is safe, loved, and cared for every day. But he still deserves what every cat deserves: a forever home of his own.
Now we need your help finding that for him.
Please share Michelangelo’s story. We know there is someone out there that is able to open their home to this sweet little boy. He has been patiently waiting a long time, and he has so much love left to give - despite all the loss he’s experienced in his life.
