We’re excited to share a success story from 𝗦𝗵𝗲𝗻𝗮𝗻𝗱𝗼𝗮𝗵 𝗥𝗮𝗻𝗰𝗵! Their incredible mare 𝗠𝗼𝗯 𝗦𝘁𝗼𝗽 (HF Mobster x Stop Little Sister – LTE $39,087) was aspirated to 𝗣𝗮𝘁𝗿𝗶𝗼𝘁 in the Fall of 2023, resulting in three embryos! Two of those were transferred into recip mares in the Spring of 2024 and are due at the end of April, and we can’t wait to see them hit the ground. The third embryo was transferred into a recip mare this Spring and will be due in 2026.

Two foals in one night for owner Margaret McLaren! She welcomed a filly and a c**t, both sired by Major Mac V—the acclaimed Arabian stallion owned by the late Sheila Varian.

Born on St. Patrick’s Day, this ICSI filly is out of Shesamartlooknpepto and by Topsails Rien Maker, the only horse to win the NRCHA World's Greatest Horseman title three times. Though he passed in 2016, his legacy continues thanks to advancements in equine reproduction like ICSI.

𝗖𝗼𝗼𝗹𝗲𝗱 𝗦𝗲𝗺𝗲𝗻 𝗜𝗻𝗰𝗿𝗲𝗮𝘀𝗲𝘀 𝗜𝗖𝗦𝗜 𝗦𝘂𝗰𝗰𝗲𝘀𝘀 𝗥𝗮𝘁𝗲𝘀

Since 2008, 𝗩𝗲𝘁𝗲𝗿𝗶𝗻𝗮𝗿𝘆 𝗥𝗲𝗽𝗿𝗼𝗱𝘂𝗰𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗜𝗻𝗻𝗼𝘃𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻𝘀 has been refining the process of equine in vitro embryo production (ICSI). While many techniques have remained the same, we’ve shifted focus to younger donor mares and prioritized the use of extended-cooled semen.

Our findings show that using cooled semen (24-36 hours post-collection) significantly improves embryo production compared to frozen semen:

✔ Higher fertilization rates (70% vs. 58%)
✔ More embryos per cycle (2.24 vs. 1.16)
✔ Better pregnancy success at 35 days (91.5% vs. 72%)
✔ Lower failure rates per cycle (4% vs. 19%)

These results suggest that cooled semen enhances efficiency and success in ICSI programs. More research is needed, but this is exciting news for breeders looking to optimize embryo production.

Meet Cody, a stunning 2025 palomino c**t by Whizkey N Diamonds out of Smokums Treana. This ICSI journey holds a special place in our hearts at 𝗩𝗥𝗜. Our clients at S6 Ranch in Knightsen, CA dreamed of one last foal from their 11 year old daughter’s beloved 25 year old heart horse. We were thrilled to successfully create and implant a healthy embryo in their sweet recipient mare, Keeva. Now 12, their daughter is already dreaming of her future high school show career with Cody by her side.

Congratulations to the Salvador Family on Cody’s arrival! We can’t wait to watch him grow and follow his journey.
