It's going to be a great weekend to go to the Santa Cruz Sea Glass & Ocean Art Festival at the Coconut Grove on the Santa Cruz Boardwalk.

I've started seeing ads for Holiday/Christmas products, which was surprising, but I realize for those of us who make our gifts, it is time to think about it! Then I saw the devastating news regarding the wildfires on Maui and the horrendous destruction that many of us are too familiar with. So, I decided to put the DIY pillow/wall hanging kits on my website, on sale for approximately 25% off the price and taking the discounted amount to send to a Maui food bank or other organization in Maui. Hopefully, this will help with getting gifts made and help our extended family in Hawaii get through this. Our hearts are with them.......

I'm so excited to be showing again at the Santa Cruz Sea Glass and Ocean Art Festival! I'm working on a new quilt to be on the backwall of my booth. The zero waste/plastic free h**p mesh bags and portable kitchens will be back as well as great linen kitchen dish and hand towels. Also working on a new jacket made out of the same fabric as the popular ponchos! and there might be a few more new products!! The ocean is such an inspiration!!! If there is anything you would like to see there, that is on the website, drop me a line and I'll bring it in for you. Out of all the events that I've shown at, this one is the most exciting and fun show of them all.....and we get to watch the ocean from the Cocoanut Grove venue.....Perfection!!!!!!

There is a new linen pillow on the Lazy Dog Designs website, a seashell! A simple, elegant design used a shell that was picked up on a California beach, for the inspiration. This design texture was made with a French quilting technique called Boutis that allows only certain portions of the design to be raised, which is a new technique for me, and I love it! It's almost time for the Santa Cruz Sea Glass and Ocean Art Festival THIS weekend!! As always, it will be amazing....one of the best shows in the area! This year the h**p mesh produce bags will be available again as well as the new "portable kitchens" so that you never have to ask for disposable products to enjoy your food! Check it out!!

I'm excited to announce that I will be showing at the Marin Arts and Crafts show in San Rafael, in two weeks! A three day event I'll be showing mainly the h**p/organic cotton ponchos and shawls. I did this show in 2019 and it was amazing! Come see me!!

This year has been hard with not being able to show at events and see everyone. Since everything is so chaotic, I think it is time that we all do what we can to make life a little easier for each other and one thing I can do is offer free shipping.

Whether you're ready to try something new or thinking about holiday gifts, check out the DIY kits on the Lazy Dog Designs website! These kits are the same materials as the pillows or wall hangings that I offer already made.

If you've never done this kind of hand sewing, then this is a fun way to start. Every kit has the applique cut out and ready to stitch on a natural background of two layers of h**p/organic cotton. There is a piece of organic cotton batting layer that goes in between the background fabric for softness and texture. The designs have gentle curves that are easy to turn and sew, with finishing fabric included, so that your project can become anything that you want.

Church Street Fair has always been fun, so it's hard to have it cancelled this year....but we have to stay safe. Maybe next year!

Lazy Dog Designs is a small, vegan, woman owned business in Aromas, California, started because of a love of sewing, nature, good food and her dog.
All of the Lazy Dog Designs products feature original designs in h**p, h**p blend and other sustainable fabrics. The quilts, pillows and wall hangings are all hand stitched, using seaweed and leaves for inspiration. The ponchos and shawls were made for comfort, while the farmers market and produce bags were designed to protect and transport all the wonderful food!

The Santa Cruz VegFest has been cancelled for this year. This is what I have been told "The Santa Cruz County Health Department has advised that all non-essential events be cancelled in order to slow down the spread of COVID-19 and to protect populations at high risk. It's anticipated that we will see many new cases in the weeks ahead as a result of testing increases."
It would have been an exciting event, but better to stay healthy....
