We’ve had some inquiries about this, so I’d like to explain why we’re a “Closed Cattery” (No in-home visits):
We get asked about visits fairly often, so I wanted to share this openly and respectfully.
Limelight Persians Cattery is a closed cattery, which means we do not allow in-home visits or tours. This decision is not about secrecy, it is about maintaining a safe, clean environment for our cats and kittens, and protecting our home and family.
🐾 {Cleanliness and disease prevention}
Our kittens are raised in our home and keeping them healthy is top priority. Allowing multiple visitors into a space where kittens live increases risk of bringing in viruses, bacteria, parasites, and other illnesses. Even if someone has the best intentions, germs can be tracked in on shoes, clothing, hands, and personal items. For a breeder, keeping a closed environment is one of the best ways to protect vulnerable kittens.
🐾 {Safety and privacy}
This is our home. Not a storefront. Not a public facility. Unfortunately, breeders have been stalked, robbed, and even harmed. There have been cases where breeders have been murdered. That is a heartbreaking reality of this world, and we take it very seriously. We will never put our children, pets, or home at risk.
🐾 {Time and workload}
Between caring for cats and kittens, cleaning, vet visits, full time jobs, and kids, we simply do not have the time to host visits. Even when people mean well, visits take hours of preparation, supervision, cleanup, and disruption to the animals. Our time belongs to the cats/pets first, and our children’s schedules.
🐾 {How we build trust instead}
We are happy to provide weekly photos, videos, and additional live updates as requested. Information on our program and policies, as well as proof of Veterinary care is readily available.
🐾 We appreciate everyone who understands that our boundaries exist for a reason, and they allow us to continue raising kittens safely, responsibly, and with the level of care they deserve!
