Our goal is to find them loving forever homes in USA. Many are then abandoned when they grow in size, require attention, want to play or if the family expects a baby. Due to the culture in Serbia, dogs are considered objects and not part of the family. Currently there are no Animal Welfare laws are in place in Serbia, so people don’t think twice abandoning them or abusing them. Forests are full of Goldens and other purebreds who eventually succumb to the elements, attacks by other feral dogs, or die from disease and or hunger. Although there are no kill shelters in Serbia, the conditions are so inhumane that they have become death camps. The majority of the dogs contract serious diseases within the first week they are in the shelter and most do not survive. The lucky ones who survive in the shelter are often dropped in the forests when the shelter become overcrowded. It is a vicious cycle that never ends. Even the streets are not safe as there are gypsies and drug addicts who will take these dogs and mistreat them. Some will even harm the dogs physically just so they can use the dog to beg for money. Smaller Goldens are also used as bait dogs for Kangals, “Anatolian Shepard’s”, Pit bulls and Dogo’s. Since there are currently no animal welfare laws, very little is done to help them and most do not survive. locates adoptable dogs, determines their potential for adoptability in USA, and screens them for all possible illness. As a strict policy, we DO NOT bring dogs who have had distemper. We make sure the dogs have full blood, urine and additional tests and they are quarantined for minimum of 15 days. The dogs are properly vetted for two months and afterwards reside in pet hotels, where they receive further assessment and some training before coming to the USA. After 15 days of quarantine, they receive additional required vaccinations for canine coronavirus, rabies, kennel cough and the DHLPP combination vaccine. Once medical assessment and care is complete, the dogs are spayed/neutered and micro chipped. At Legacy Rescue Inc. we work very closely with our team in Serbia and have direct communication with our vets and pet hotels. All paperwork and passport information is completed in accordance with USA requirements and we comply with all applicable USDA (US Department of Agriculture) regulations. We have adopted several dogs to wonderful families and provide Golden Retrievers to several reputable Golden Retriever Rescues who have been around for over 30 years. We do have high standards and follow a very strict process before bringing these dogs to USA. Our dogs are all well behaved and very loving. We want to make sure both the dogs and adopters are a good match so both you and your new addition to your family are not disappointed. Happy 4th of July 🇺🇸
Wishing everyone a joyful and safe Independence Day.

As we celebrate the freedoms we have,
my hope is that we can come together with more compassion, more listening, and more love—for our neighbors, our communities, and this country we all call home.

Let’s celebrate today not just with fireworks, but with reflection—and a renewed commitment to building a better tomorrow.

Stay safe, be kind, and hold your loved ones close. ❤️🤍💙

Yay! Archie is home! 🐾💛He’s a little timid and still getting used to walking on a leash, but he’s already showing signs of happiness in the backyard—especially with his new sister, Sawyer! 🐶📚 She loves reading him books and they’ve been having the sweetest playtime in their fenced yard.Like many rescues, Archie just needs a little TLC and patience as he adjusts to his new life. With time, love, and lots of positive memories, he’ll be leash-walking like a champ in no time! 🦴🐕✨Welcome home, Archie! 💕

🐾 Archie’s Big Adventure Begins! ✈️

Our sweet, shy boy Archie—now 3 years old—had quite the week getting ready for his big move to the USA! After one last visit to the vet, a spa day he wasn’t exactly thrilled about, and a joyful playdate with his best buddy Jeca on the sunny lawn, Archie said farewell to the only home he’s ever known.

He’ll miss Lela, Jeca, and his furry siblings dearly… but little does he know, an exciting new chapter is just beginning—and there’s a special surprise waiting for him on the other side. 💙

Let’s follow Archie’s pawprints as he embarks on this new journey!

Life is so strange sometimes. Today, our hearts are full of excitement because our handsome Archie will soon be heading to his forever home in Milton! But we also received the heartbreaking news that our sweet, wonderful Bobo who came here 8 years ago passed away on Friday. He lived in Milton, MA.

I got the most touching email from his mom—she said Bobo was like a human being who loved his food. When he stopped eating, they knew it was time.

Bobo lived the best life, full of love, friendship, and the posh life in Milton. He ran, played, and made everyone smile.

Run free now, sweet Bobo. We were truly the lucky ones to have had you in our lives. 💔🐾

Here is Bobo on the left with his brother ❤️
