So many great pups looking for homes. 💔
**COURTESY POSTING**
Goose is a 1.5 year old mixed breed looking for a quiet forever home! Currently he lives in an apartment and due to his heightened anxiety- it’s too much for him to handle. 🥺 Goose is on Prozac and has been for 2.5 weeks hoping it will help calm his worries and lessen his fear. Due to his deteriorating mental health and pressure from the apartment complex- it is best Goose finds a more suitable home.

Goose highlights-
LOVES other dogs! Big or small doesn’t matter to him. Goose does best with other confident dogs that help ease his mind.
Fetch is his ultimate game. He could play nonstop if allowed to do so.
He does know basic commands such as: sit, lay down, place, stay, up, off, shake (now, will only offer shake if you prompt him with “nice to meet you” 😉), and spin!
Does well with kids but the itty bitties do spook him. Would do best with kids 13 and up.
Shy with new people upon first meeting but does warm up with a proper introduction!

Goose is a good boy! Just needs some slow time to realize the world isn’t moving as fast as his mind likes to tell him. 🤎

**COURTESY POST**
Help Ollie find a new home!! Owners are moving and can not bring him. He’s 10 months old, neutered, crate trained, has his rabies vaccine. Decent recall but is not leash trained. Australian cattle dogs are SO smart this could be something he could learn easily. Does well with owner’s autistic son and loves him dearly. 🧡 has not shown any aggressive tendencies. Just a sweet pup ready to find his forever adventure buddy.

❗️SEPTEMBER 30, 2025 SWEET OLLIE WILL BE RETURNED TO THE DENTON ANIMAL SHELTER❗️

🎆 Keep Your Pets Safe This Fireworks Season 🎆

As we gear up to celebrate the 4th of July, don’t forget—fireworks may be fun for us, but they’re terrifying for many animals. The days around Independence Day see a dramatic spike in lost pets due to fear-induced escapes. Here’s how you can help keep your furry friends safe and calm:

🐶 Make Sure Your Pet Has Proper ID
Double-check that your pet is wearing a secure collar with up-to-date tags. Even better: make sure their microchip information is current. If they get scared and bolt, this is the best chance you have of being reunited.

💊 Talk to Your Vet Now—Not July 3rd
If your pet has a history of anxiety, don’t wait until the last minute. Many vets are slammed right before the holiday. Ask now about calming medications or other options like pheromone diffusers or anxiety wraps.

🏠 Create a Safe Space
Designate a quiet, secure room in your home where your pet can retreat during fireworks. Bring in their bed, favorite toys, and maybe even play soft music or white noise to help drown out the booms.

🚫 Keep Them Indoors
Even if your pet is usually fine outside, fireworks are unpredictable. A normally calm dog might panic and jump a fence or break a leash. Keep all pets safely indoors during peak firework hours.

❤️ Comfort, But Don’t Coddle
Stay calm yourself and act normally—your pet takes emotional cues from you. Reassure them without overreacting to their fear.

Let’s make this a safe and happy holiday for everyone—including our four-legged family members.

🇺🇸 Fireworks & Horses: Safety First This 4th of July 🇺🇸

Loud noises, flashing lights, and the smell of smoke can be incredibly stressful for horses. Each year, horses are injured—or worse—due to fireworks-related panic. Here’s how you can help keep your horse calm and safe this Independence Day:

🏇 Know Your Area’s Fireworks Schedule
Check with neighbors, local municipalities, and event pages so you know when fireworks are planned. If possible, stay nearby during those times to monitor your horse.

🪪 ID Matters—Even for Horses
Make sure your horse has a halter ID tag or, ideally, is microchipped with updated contact info. In the event they bolt or escape, quick identification is crucial.

🏡 Secure Fencing & Gates
Inspect your fencing and gates well before the 4th. Make sure everything is in top shape in case your horse spooks and tests the perimeter.

📦 Consider Stall Confinement
Some horses do better in a secure stall with fans or white noise to help muffle the sound. Others are calmer in their pasture with their herd. Know your horse and plan accordingly.

💊 Talk to Your Vet About Calming Options
If your horse is particularly sensitive, now’s the time to speak to your vet about possible calming aids—don’t wait until the holiday is here.

🐴 Remove Hazards
Make sure the area your horse is in is free of sharp objects, loose wire, or anything they could injure themselves on in a panic.

❤️ Stay Calm, Stay Present
If you’re able to be with them during the fireworks, your calm presence can help reassure them. Horses pick up on our energy.

Let’s make sure our horses are as safe and calm as possible during the noise and chaos of the 4th. A little preparation goes a long way.

Help find Soncy!

Soncy ran away near Mack Park in Denton, Texas. She was last seen 5 days ago in the Country Club Terrace neighborhood in Denton. She ran away the day we moved in, so she does not know how to return to our new home. Our old home is in Amarillo.

Soncy is an 11 year old, medium-sized female with a black coat, brown eyes, and graying muzzle. She has a cyst under her right eye and a hairless scar on her front left elbow. She is wearing a blue collar, and she is microchipped. She is very shy but has never been aggressive.
