Not all ultrasounds are the same — and your pet may need different types depending on the situation. 🩺🐾

A Point-of-Care Ultrasound (POCUS) is a quick bedside scan used by veterinarians to assess urgent concerns like fluid, bladder issues, or emergency conditions. This is frequently used to get answers quickly when assessing an emergency.

A Diagnostic Ultrasound with a board certified radiologist is a more advanced, comprehensive diagnostic study performed by a specialist with extensive training in veterinary imaging. This is often recommended to confirm a foreign body obstruction, locate masses, or determine the cause of chronic illness.

We are deeply thankful for their service.🙏🏻 As we observe the holiday, Main Line Urgent Vet is closed today, Monday, May 25th, and will reopen with normal business hours tomorrow, Tuesday, May 26th at 10am. As you gather with family and friends this Memorial Day weekend, don’t forget to keep your pets’ safety in mind, too. 🇺🇸🐾 Cookouts, pools, and time outdoors can be fun, but they can also come with a few hidden risks for our furry family members.

Here are a few Memorial Day Pet Safety Tips from the team at Main Line Urgent Vet:

🍔 Party Smart: Cookouts can be tempting for pets. Keep alcoholic drinks out of reach and remind guests not to share table scraps or snacks.
🏊 Be Cool Near the Pool: Never leave pets unsupervised around pools, lakes, or water—not all dogs are strong swimmers.
🦟 Skip the Spray: Insect repellent and sunscreen made for people can be toxic to pets unless they’re specifically designed for animals.
🌤 Made in the Shade: Pets can overheat and dehydrate quickly. Always provide plenty of fresh water and a shady place to cool off.
🏷 ID’s Please: More time outdoors means a higher chance of pets wandering off. Make sure your pet has a collar with ID tags and a registered microchip.

Our team is here for your pets if the unexpected happens. Main Line Urgent Vet will be open Memorial Day weekend for your pet’s emergency needs, but we will be closed on Memorial Day (Monday).

The products people are using have changed, and with that, the way ma*****na toxicity presents in pets has changed as well.

🌟Patient spotlight!🌟

This handsome gentleman is Winston! He came to us having possibly ingested rodenticide on a walk.

Rodenticide can cause a very serious toxicity in dogs that can have major effects on their health. ⚠️

We induced vomiting during Winston’s first visit with us but could not locate obvious rodenticide.

Due to the possibility that it was still ingested, we had Winston come back to check his bloodwork every 24 hours for the next few days to make sure all values remained normal.

Winston was the best boy for his blood draws and everyone was very happy to give him the all clear at his last recheck visit! 🥳👏💗

We loved meeting this beautiful girl Eleanor and are so glad the experience was a positive one for her and her mom! ✨

Eleanor is an anxious girl (relatable 😅) and we get it! Urgent care can be stressful for both pets and owners so our staff always does their best to monitor pets’ anxiety and minimize stress during visits every way we can.

We were so glad that Eleanor left with a big smile on her face and meds to help her keep feeling better 😁
