Meet Your New Best Friend!

Looking for a loyal, fun, and super smart companion? Look no further!

Mavis is a small-but-mighty sweetheart (just 15 lbs!) who’s bursting with personality. She’s young, healthy, and already knows a bunch of commands. Whether it’s fetch in the yard or a cozy night on the couch, she’s always up for whatever you’re doing—as long as she gets to be near her favorite human.

Here’s what makes her amazing:

-House, crate & leash trained
-Very affectionate with people
-Loves fetch & playing
-Food-motivated and easy to train
-Energetic but easy to manage

What she needs:

-A home where she’s the only pet (she’s not a fan of other dogs)
-No very young children—older kids or adult-only homes preferred
-A person or family who’ll continue giving her the love, structure & fun she thrives on

Note: She’s not spayed yet, so adopters must be committed to getting that taken care of.

If you’re looking for a devoted sidekick with a big heart and a playful streak, Mavis is waiting to meet you!

Mavis is thriving with her foster family! Turns out she is not at all aggressive or fearful of men. In fact she has shown no signs of aggression or resource guarding at all. They report that she is extremely affectionate and very smart! Below is what they have shared:

"Meet sweet little Mavis! She’s a 1–2-year-old Chihuahua mix who was sadly abandoned after being used for breeding. Despite her rough start, she’s incredibly smart and already knows commands like come, sit, give paw, roll over, and army crawl. She’s very food-motivated, making further training easy.

Mavis loves to play ball and will happily bring it back to you. She’s a petite, slender girl—energetic yet easy to manage. With her soft coat, curly tail, and adorable feathery ears, she’s as beautiful as she is affectionate. She loves giving kisses and was comfortable with my husband, despite previous reports of her being wary of men (though that may have been due to a tall, bearded individual).

She’d thrive in a loving home with adults or older kids (tweens/teens) who enjoy training an intelligent, affectionate pup. While I’m fostering her, I’m keeping her separate from other animals until she’s fully vaccinated so I did not dog/cat test her. She’s a special girl who deserves a second chance"

UPDATE: Mavis is enjoying this beautiful spring weather with a foster family. She is truly a gorgeous little dog.

In case you missed it: Mavis was returned to us because she was showing some signs of fear of men and was not very tolerant of the very young children in the home. Mavis is house and crate trained. She is good on a leash and she knows some simple commands.

UPDATE: Little Miss Mavis is back. It did not work out with her most recent adopters. But we learned a lot about her!

Mavis is house and crate trained. She knows some simple commands. She is good on a leash.

Mavis is fearful and anxious around men. She is not the most patient with very young children. Mavis is reactive around other dogs particularly younger high energy dogs.

We believe Mavis would make a great bestie for a single lady!

UPDATE: Mavis is still here. She is doing great! Today is the final day of her stray hold. Please share this post to continue to spread the word about her and help us find her family.

HER STORY: Mavis was found on Mill Rd in Havertown on Saturday, 3/22. She was brought to us by Haverford Township Animal Control on Monday, 3/24. On Tuesday, 3/25, she began lactating. On Wednesday, 3/26, Mavis had x-rays to confirm she was not pregnant and cabbage therapy was started to relieve her discomfort. Today, 3/27 is the final day of her stray hold. This is her last chance to be reunited with her family.

Update: Our lactating princess is hanging in there. We have her in a surgical suit to hold cabbage leaves to her ni***es and stop her from licking. Our hope is the cabbage leaves will provide some relief from the pain and engorgment. And since she will not be able to lick this should break the stimulation-lactation cycle. This angel is a trooper!

We have decided to name her "Mavis"

HER STORY: Mavis was found on Mill Rd in Havertown on Saturday 3/22 and brought to us by Haverford Township Animal Control on Monday 3/24. She is not spayed, no microchip, was found with a collar but no tags. Yesterday 3/25 she started lactating. Today 3/26 she had x-rays to confirm she is not pregnant and we began cabbage therapy to ease her discomfort.

Mavis is very friendly. She loves pets and treats. Her coat is so soft and silky. Not to mention THOSE EARS! We are all quite smitten with this sweet mama.

Please continue to share our posts about Mavis.
