Even though we’re dealing with some crazy weather right now across North Alabama and Southern Tennessee, warmer days are just around the corner. 🌤️ With the temperatures starting to climb soon, snakes will be becoming more active again.

This is a great reminder for dog owners: if your dog has previously received the venomous snake (rattlesnake) vaccine, now is the time to think about getting that booster scheduled. Staying ahead of the season can help give your dog an extra layer of protection before snake activity really picks up.

If you’re unsure when your dog last received the vaccine or whether they’re due for a booster, reach out to us and check their records. A little preparation now can make a big difference later.

Stay safe out there and keep those pups protected! 🐶🐍

🐾🇺🇸 Happy K9 Veterans Day! 🇺🇸🐾

Today we honor the brave military and working dogs who have served alongside U.S. service members to protect and save lives. These incredible dogs are more than companions—they are highly trained heroes.

Here are a few amazing facts about America’s working K9s:

🐕 Over 30,000 military working dogs have served in the U.S. Armed Forces throughout history.

🎖️ Military dogs have worked in many roles including bomb detection, patrol, tracking, and search-and-rescue missions. Their powerful noses can detect explosives and narcotics with incredible accuracy.

📅 K9 Veterans Day is celebrated on March 13 to mark the anniversary of the U.S. Army officially establishing the Military Working Dog Program in 1942.

🪖 During wars and conflicts, these dogs have helped locate hidden explosives, track enemy forces, and protect troops in dangerous environments. Many have even received medals for bravery.

❤️ After retirement, many working dogs are adopted by their handlers or loving families where they finally get to enjoy the quiet life they deserve.

Today we salute the courage, loyalty, and sacrifice of these four-legged heroes. If you know a retired working dog, give them an extra treat and a belly rub today! 🦴🐾

🐾 March is Pet Poison Prevention Awareness Month! 🐾

As pet parents, we do everything we can to keep our furry family members safe. March is Poison Prevention Awareness Month, a great reminder to take a closer look at everyday items in our homes that could be dangerous to pets.

🚫 Common Pet Toxins to Watch For:
• Human medications – Even small doses of pain relievers, antidepressants, or supplements can be toxic to pets.
• Foods – Chocolate, grapes, raisins, onions, garlic, xylitol (found in sugar-free gum and candy), and alcohol can be extremely harmful.
• Household plants – Lilies, sago palms, aloe, and pothos are common plants that can be poisonous to pets.
• Cleaning products – Disinfectants, bleach, and detergents should always be stored securely.
• Rodenticides and insecticides – Pest control products can be very dangerous if ingested.

🛑 Signs of Possible Poisoning in Pets:
• Vomiting or diarrhea
• Drooling or foaming at the mouth
• Tremors or seizures
• Lethargy or weakness
• Loss of appetite

⏱ If you think your pet may have ingested something toxic, act quickly. Contact your veterinarian or the ASPCA Animal Poison Control Center (888-426-4435) immediately. Quick action can make all the difference.

✔ Prevention Tips:
• Keep medications and chemicals out of reach.
• Store food safely and avoid sharing harmful human foods.
• Research plants before bringing them into your home or yard.
• Secure trash cans and cabinets.

Our team is here to help keep your pets healthy and safe all year long. If you ever have questions about potential toxins or pet safety, please don’t hesitate to reach out!

After speaking with her surgeon he recommended she be out for 6 weeks.

Dr. Wendy will be undergoing a routine surgery on February 9th and will be out of the office for approximately three weeks. After that, she will return on a part-time basis with a reduced schedule during the remainder of her recovery.

One of our clients is going through something they never expected, and our hearts are breaking for them. 💔

They recently rescued a sweet dog from a really bad situation. She was neglected, scared, and just needed safety and love. They were told she was already spayed, so they brought her home believing they were simply giving one dog a second chance.

Then everything changed.

She wasn’t spayed.

Before they even had time to process it, she went into labor — and now they are suddenly caring for 11 puppies they never planned for. Eleven tiny lives that now depend entirely on them. 🐶

They did the right thing by rescuing her, but the reality has been overwhelming. The cost of food, vet care, supplies, sleepless nights, and the responsibility of making sure every puppy survives and finds a loving home has taken a huge emotional and financial toll.

The good news: all of the puppies are up for adoption. The puppies are currently up to date on their parvo/ distempershots, and they are being well cared for while waiting for their forever homes. ❤️

They saved one dog from a horrible situation and ended up responsible for twelve — walking away was never an option.

👉 If you are interested in adopting or helping, please reach out to the client directly — not the clinic.
