The crowd cheers as thoroughbreds race toward the finish line, but for the horses, that finish line is only one part of their day and their racing career is only one part of their lives.

Two-time Grade 2 winner Conclude (barn name Ember) recently arrived at our aftercare partner Ride Above Disability, where he is being evaluated for a new career in their therapeutic riding program.

Conclude earned $570,100 during his racing career before retiring in 2024 and graduating through CARMA.

Now, he's learning a whole new set of skills! Like most prospective Ride Above Disability horses, Conclude will spend 30 to 90 days participating in training sessions and assessments before joining student lessons.

That includes getting comfortable with the various sensory items used in their program, and as you can see, he's not one bit bothered! ❤️

CARMAthon University 2026 Raises 178K To Support Thoroughbred Aftercare

Now in its seventh year, the virtual fundraiser CARMAthon supports CARMA's mission of helping California-raced Thoroughbreds transition into successful second careers and lifelong homes. This year's goal was to raise $175,000 to help fund CARMA's programs and grants that benefit retired racehorses.

CARMA Graduate Spotlight: Dr. Troutman
