𝑲𝒓𝒊𝒔𝒕𝒆𝒏 𝑹𝒐𝒃𝒆𝒓𝒔𝒐𝒏

Kristen began her Extension career as an agent assistant in Colbert County in August of 2006. Since that time, she has served as agent assistant for 4-H in Marshall County, 9 years as Regional Extension Agent for 4-H covering Marshall and Dekalb, and since 2020 as Coordinator/Director for Marshall County. As a 4-H’er in her teens, a love of agriculture was instilled in her by two 4-H volunteers. Kristen resurrected one of the largest youth livestock programs in the state as a 4-H Regional Agent and strives to inspire the young people she works with. She has tremendous passion in being an advocate for local farmers and producers in Marshall County.

Moved the cows off this paddock this afternoon. Trying something a little different. I went right behind them and clipped the field at 4”. I’m hoping this will cause the grass to grow better and beat the weeds out. We will know in a couple of weeks.

Cleaning up the edge of the driveway today. We’ve been dealing with a major drainage issue, but after all the rain over the past month, I was finally able to see exactly what’s happening.

Instead of the water spreading out and draining off the side evenly, gravel and dirt have been building up along the edges. That’s causing water to pool and eventually wash out the end of the driveway.

The driveway slopes downhill from the road and hits this long edge where the buildup has been the worst. Hopefully now that I’ve cleared it out, the water will flow more freely—and the erosion will finally stop!
PS- this is obviously OSHA approved.. lol

I’m gone to Montana for a few days. While I’m gone, Oliver has been taking care of things in the farm. Had a new calf born last night. Oliver went out and weighed it and checked it. Nice 45 # heifers calf.

Worked on getting the field cleaned up a little. It was still really a little too damp but it’s gonna rain tonight so had to get it in. Weeds was getting out of control. Tomorrow is going to be a full days work.

We’ve got a mud farm! According to our dear friend Jason Simpson the outlook is good for at least another week of mud farm. I’ve been through some very dry times. I’ll never complain about rain.
