🚨 FOUND DOG 🚨

A small male Dachshund mix was picked up off of Laurel Lane in Concord, VA and is now safe at the Appomattox Animal Shelter.

🐾 Description:

Male Dachshund mix

Wearing two blue collars

Appears to have been recently groomed

Very fearful

If you recognize this pup or know who he belongs to, please contact the Appomattox Animal Shelter at (434) 352-3103 or 434-352-7922, we were to believe he was injured but after inspecting him he does not appear to have any injuries. We are under quarantine and are in need of finding his owner ASAP!

📢 Policy Update – Owner Surrenders 📢

After speaking with our veterinarian and listening to feedback from our community, the Appomattox Animal Shelter will be reverting back to our previous policy regarding vaccines for owner surrenders.

We truly appreciate everyone who took the time to reach out and share their thoughts with us on this matter. Your voices help us make decisions that are best for the animals in our care and our community as a whole.

🚨 Important Notice: The shelter is currently under quarantine due to a parvo exposure. We will remain closed to intakes and adoptions until August 28th, when the quarantine is expected to be lifted.
➡️ During this time, we are only taking in animals in need of emergency veterinary care.

📢 IMPORTANT POLICY UPDATE 📢

Effective immediately, the Appomattox Animal Shelter will require proof of all vaccinations for any owner surrenders.

✅ Dogs & Cats will NOT be accepted without a paper record showing that vaccines have been administered.

In addition, there is a surrender fee in place.
This fee helps cover the cost of:

Any necessary medical care while the animal is in our shelter

Food and basic needs during their stay

This policy is in place to protect the health and well-being of all animals in our care and to ensure we can provide for them properly.

We appreciate your cooperation and understanding as we work together to keep our shelter pets safe and healthy. ❤️🐾

The Appomattox Animal Shelter is currently under a two-week quarantine due to a positive parvo test.

During this time, we will only be accepting animals on an emergency basis to help prevent the spread of illness and protect the pets in our care.

We’re so grateful to Tractor Supply for allowing us to host an adoption event at their store! 🐶🐱 Your support means the world to us and to the animals who are searching for their forever homes.

Three of our sweet beagles from the Appomattox Animal Shelter got the adventure of a lifetime — they boarded a plane and flew north to a wonderful rescue where forever homes are waiting! 💛

These pups left paw prints on our hearts, and now they’re off to make new memories and find the loving families they deserve. 💕🐶
