Morbid crap! Stop it!

And just like that…

We said goodbye to a friend.

Prince Harry

1/1/2021 - 4/9/26

I wish I could describe how beautiful the day was that you left.

The sky was so blue. The temperature just right.

And even though your expression was a little less bright… you walked right up to Ally and Dr. C, the two people you trusted most in the world without any fear— your soft lips whiffed at Allys hand affectionately.

Your gaze locked on her, and your eyes said wherever you lead, I will follow.

But she cannot go where you go today.

Not yet.

But it comforts me that you’ll be waiting for her when she does.

Oh great friend— how good you’ve been to us. How kind.

As she hugged your great big head, I could see the pain in her eyes but the tiredness in yours.

It was time.

How can time stretch so exhaustingly forever in front of us, and then be up in an instant? No one enjoys the present enough until it becomes the past.

It’s not fair.

When Dr. C slipped the catheter into your neck, I could see the soft salty tears falling from her eyes.

You turned an ear toward her. Don’t cry small friend.

Forever our gentlest giant— in pain but wanting us to feel none.

Dr. C grabbed a tendril of white mane and kissed it goodbye.

Ally whispered to you, “you were the greatest horse Harry. The only thing bigger than you was your kind heart.”

I looked down at the soft green grass you were going to soon be buried beneath.

Would your bones and body turn into the dust that hundreds of horses after you would churn up?

Would you be alongside Ally for every future ride? For every fearful heart changed into a trusting one? Would you be the wind teasing through mane and pony tail?

Once you become stardust and earth again, would you rise and dance alongside us as we go about our day?

Will you kindly embrace us when we finally become earth and stardust too?

I hope so, old friend.

You went gently to your knees with Ally easing you down. Such a large horse to leave so quietly — so politely.

And they both sat down with you, stroking you, letting tears fall like rain on a snowy coat.

I stared at my feet. My own choking tears blinding me for a second.

How tragically beautiful it is to love— for we never know the strength, the vastness, or the impossible weight until we are here.

Saying a last goodbye.

You gave one soft sigh and were gone.

I looked up at what you saw before you closed your eyes for that final sleep and saw nothing but the bluest sky.

Will you go to the earth, or will I find you in the clouds?

Maybe both.

All I know is I will miss you and look for you in everything.

The hardest act is a final one— a gift of love.

You are free now. CPL doesn’t touch you anymore.

Goodbye Harry. Run free our sweet Prince.

It's been a long day without you, my friend
And I'll tell you all about it when I see you again
We've come a long way from where we began
Oh, I'll tell you all about it when I see you again
When I see you again

CCR will observe 24 hours of silence in remembrance and honor of Prince Harry. Thank you for your kind words and understanding.
