This is a man we know and respect, not only as a hog hunter and dog owner, but also as a member of our community and a fellow business owner.
Please bring awareness to your own community: YOU CANNOT SHOOT HUNTING OR WORKING DOGS WITHOUT BEING HELD ACCOUNTABLE. Charges are filed and the owners of the dogs have lost two of their valuable, dedicated working partners.

🟧 ARMY OF ORANGE REPORT — LIBERTY COUNTY, TEXAS
“They were hunting WITH permission. They were protecting livestock. And two dogs were killed anyway.”
A citizen reached out to us with this message:
“Chance Ward is an upstanding citizen of his community that helps people all the time, all over the state of Texas. His son Rowdy and his best friend Garrett had their dogs shot. The link above is to the story.”
Here’s what happened.
⸻
**These dogs were not trespassing.
They were not bothering anyone.
They were WORKING — on a ranch, with full permission, helping control feral hogs to protect cattle and livestock.**
This was a legitimate hog-removal operation.
The rancher had requested help.
The team was invited, welcomed, and authorized to be on the property.
And then the unthinkable happened.
⸻
“Dad… you might want to come to us pretty quick. Someone just unalived Garrett’s dog.”
That was the call that came in.
And from that moment, everything changed.
When the father arrived, he heard screaming — a woman’s voice.
Instead of a man being attacked, he found something else entirely.
Rowdy told him the woman had shot and unalived Garrett’s dog.
When asked about Brooks — a young working dog — Rowdy said he hadn’t seen him.
The father replied:
“Brooks is tracking inside that woman’s house.”
These dogs were there to protect livestock from destructive feral hogs — and now one was missing and one was dead.
⸻
Law enforcement was contacted immediately:
• Liberty County Sheriff’s Department
• Texas Game Wardens
• Cattleman’s Association
• Livestock Agents
All responded quickly.
As they should — because this was a crime scene involving working livestock-protection dogs.
⸻
What happened next shocked everyone.
Deputies originally went to the correct address — three cars deep.
The woman came out and claimed they had the wrong home.
She acted convincing enough that deputies left.
But the Game Warden confirmed the address again.
The group regrouped at her driveway.
She came out aggressive, trying to drive everyone off her property.
The father told her:
“My dog is in your house, and I want him back.”
She denied everything.
He said:
“Then my collar is — because you turned it off in there.”
A deputy arrived and kept control of the situation while tensions escalated.
When the father handed the tracker to the Game Warden, the device led directly to her house, giving officers immediate cause to investigate further.
⸻
The investigation revealed the truth:
• She had shot and unalived the dog.
• She removed the collar, shut it off, and threw it into her pond.
• She loaded the deceased dog into a vehicle, drove two miles, and dumped him in water.
• She also shot Garrett’s dog while he was running away — another working dog that was actively helping protect livestock from feral hogs.
Again:
**These dogs were ON THE PROPERTY WITH PERMISSION.
They were PROTECTING LIVESTOCK.
They posed ZERO threat to her.**
Yet two young working dogs were killed.
⸻
Charges Filed
She was arrested for:
• Animal Cruelty to a Non-Livestock Animal (two counts)
• Tampering with Evidence
She admitted everything.
⸻
🟧 Special thanks to:
• Liberty County Sheriff’s Department
• Texas Game Wardens
• Liberty County Livestock Division
• Southwestern Cattleman’s Association
Their quick response prevented this situation from being swept aside.
⸻
🟧 ARMY OF ORANGE STATEMENT
Working dogs are not disposable.
They are not targets.
They are partners in land management, livestock protection, and ranch operations.
These dogs were where they were supposed to be — doing exactly what they were trained and permitted to do.
And they were killed anyway.
We will continue to stand with the Ward family, with ethical hunters, and with every landowner who depends on well-trained working dogs to protect livestock across the South.
