In 1984, Dr Kent Greer, a young veterinary graduate, decided to build what was to become a new concept in veterinary hospitals for Central Florida. Drawing on the fine example of his father veterinarian, he opened officially in 1985, offering in-house diagnostics with one of the very first Idexx blood machines in the United States. This was to set the pattern of services and facilities offered at our first animal hospital, always trying to bring the very best in technology and knowledge to help pets.
In 1995, his wife, Annie, joined the practice and the two married in 1996, sharing a passion for animals and being the perfect work partners (well, almost!) Wanting to expand into other counties, near their farm, they purchased East lake Animal Clinic in 2002 and then, within the year, saw an opportunity to create, a fantastic pet resort, combined with superior medical services. Thus, Pet Care Center of Apopka was built, converting a family residence and then adding on a million and a half dollar state of the art boarding facility, but keeping the integrity of the beautiful 6 acres of woodland and grasslands. Next came the swimming pool. Especially designed for dogs it also addressed the increasing interest and provision of rehabilitation and alternative therapies.
In short, our goal is to provide the best in veterinary and supportive care but to never forget that we have a duty to treat your pets just as if it was one of ours. We do this through up to date diagnostic testing, so that we can solve the problem, not just treat the symptoms and to do it as minimally invasive a fashion as possible.
