introducing FROST BONNET aka DOVE 🕊️, a sixteen year-old AQHA registered perlino mare. dove is everything i could want in a mare: gentle but tough, small but mighty, and proven in the show ring and as a mom! she is by BSCC ON EAGLES WINGS, a talented, athletic, gritty cowhorse and a very special guy! with legendary names like COOL LITTLE LENA, DOC OLENA, SUGAR BARS, POCO BUENO, and LEO on her papers, dove has the pedigree to back up her accomplishments.

i’m proud (and a little emotional) to share that we've purchased the first broodmare to start building our program. she’s beautiful, gritty, and has already raised a couple gorgeous, talented babies.

what makes her extra special? her sire, eagle, is the cornerstone of the first horse outfit i ever worked on. eagle is wicked talented, easy to be around, and passes on his good brain, athleticism, and cow sense to every one of his foals. getting to bring one of his daughters home as the foundation of daybreak’s program feels like coming full circle. the wilder, eagle’s home, was instrumental into turning me into the horsewoman i am today so when i got the opportunity to bring a piece of it home, i knew i couldn’t say no.

this mare is built right, dog gentle, and will eat a cow for lunch — but more than that, she’s the kind of mare you trust on a long day, and the kind you’d be proud to work with.

she’s the start of something i’ve worked hard, prayed long, and dreamed big for.
every good program starts somewhere — and for daybreak, it starts with her.

hi, i’m mattie and welcome to daybreak horse company!

i believe a good horse should have the kind of heart that doesn’t quit — the kind that meets a challenge with a try that makes you proud to sit in the saddle.

for me, raising quarter horses isn’t just about producing pretty movers or catchy bloodlines. it’s about shaping minds you can trust, and building out of the kind of character that lasts a lifetime — in the arena, on the ranch, and anywhere in between.

midwest-born turned westward, i’ve got dust on my boots and big dreams in my heart. the prairie taught me tough and honest, and i carry that into everything i do — especially when it comes to horses. i’ve spent long days in the sun, late nights in the barn, and early mornings chasing the kind of horses i believe in.

you’ll find me just outside of town with my arms full of hay, dogs underfoot, and c**ts growing into the kind of partners i’d want to ride myself. i’m not in a hurry — i’d rather do it right than do it fast.

i’m raising horses with trainable minds, tough feet, and willing hearts — because i believe those are the ones that’ll take you the farthest. not just champions in the ring, but partners on the trail, and teammates when it counts.

this journey has been full of ups, downs, and dirt in my teeth, but i wouldn’t trade it for anything 🌵

hey friends!! it’s been a while!

life is rollin’ right along out here on the prairie! daybreak is FULLY BOOKED for the summer as of right now! whoop! thank you to all my clients who are trusting me with their horses! it means the world!!

i’ll be taking very few client horses for the fall so reach out if you’re looking to have your horses sent out for training as the weather cools down!

hoping to post more on social media as the summer goes on but man, it’s hard to fit everything in!!

penny is learning how to pack our torso-less friend around! she did not care at all! still was worried about the saddle at first so we’ll make sure she’s good and comfy with that before we climb on!

meet the summer project! just picked him up from a local kill pen. poor guy is a little worse for wear but i see so much potential in him!

there are a few things we need to clear up with the vet before he goes to work so he’ll spend the next few weeks eating green grass, getting lots of love and whatever he needs to be comfy! 🤎 i’m excited to bring you guys along on the journey!

he does not have a name yet!! give me some suggestions in the comments! 🫶🏻

just got back from a quick trip to AZ to see the fam! the summer season is just starting here at daybreak and i am SO excited about all the horses coming in!

so excited to have some sweet trail horses here for a tune-up! salsa, lightning, and teddy belong to three sweet little girls who are itching to ride this summer!

for those of you who have been following me for a while, one of these guys should look familiar! teddy (third pic) was a sale project of mine and he found the greatest home! so fun to have him back for a little bit! 🤍
