Where do I source my hamsters from : currently I am not only getting hamsters from out of state my favorite breeders for goood temperament and longevity are Sweet Sunset Rodentry, and Hopefuly dilute from Royal T Rodents for other species I am working on getting some from breeders within CA.
What are my goals with breeding hamsters: I want to breed the healthiest , most structurally sound hamsters I possibly can following NHC standard for conformation , as well as breeding for size and amazing temperaments.
What colors/coat types do I work with ?:
For hamsters my priority is black , cinnamon(combos) and dove . Eventually will branch out for other colors and someday a pure Extreme dilute dove line. I will have black hamsters available year around. Hopefully adding Rex to a pure black line. As for patterns , I am looking to add polywhite , Dominant spot and and eventually Recessive dapple .
How long have I been breeding and why d?:
I have been studying and working with Syrian genetics for 3-4 years now I lost count . I learn at a very slow pace which affects my ability to start breeding more. My love for Syrian hamsters is very deep , my first hamster was a Robo named Stuart , while I was not very educated then , i eventually got another hamster who was a Syrian named Biggie cheese , he was a very aggressive and territorial hamster . He actually bit the skin off my finger and made me bleed ! You would think that him biting me would make me not like Syrians anymore but it actually made me devoted to learning and breeding Syrians . I was still an immigrant, so I learned a little bit from people in my home town , who were not the best but I worked with what I got . I eventually moved to CA, and brought some of those hamsters with me . Unfortunately the people in the USA are not very kind and are very gate-keepy, and judgemental. So I avoided them for a long time until last year actually ! I have been thoroughly enjoyed trying new lines and seeing what I like best here. Despite the many attempts at hurting me I have kept breeding privately until this year , my goal is always to improve Syrian hamster species but also to provide pets to those who love hamsters as much as me.
Is there an age limit : yes, your parent has to be the one who purchases the hamster and must be the primary caregiver . But I am more than happy to give to homes with children so long as the parent will care for them .
What’s the size requirement: 600 sq inches of unbroken floor space .
