Hello, folks. I want to explain my upcoming October clinic in a little more depth. Although there is emphasis on stockmanship and roping the main focus is always horsemanship. If you are a beginning roper this clinic would be great for you. We will start complete beginners on the ground roping the dummies. If you can build a loop and swing it we will rope the dummies from horseback. Then we will follow the roping sled to get consistent positioning and shots . Then we will move to live cattle.
I am a strong believer in developing a horse that can be ridden one handed. I see many people at my clinics that are riding older horses , in snaffle bits and directing them with both hands and pulling quite a bit. Nothing wrong with a snaffle but to use it like you would on a two year old c**t is a disservice to an older horse if it knows the basics and is ready to move on. Would you rather be pulled around by a direct rein all your life or would you rather respond to signals on your neck and from your rider’s legs and seat? This will be just the clinic to develop those skids with your horse.
