When my frogs travel, their safety is the top priority. I am focused on the details.
-I only send frogs out when temperatures are ideal at all stops along their trip. This means that they only travel during the spring and fall.
-All flights are next-day.
-I use top-quality shipping materials that are appropriate for the weather. This includes insulated boxes and at least one Phase-22 pack, which keeps the temperatures perfect for the frogs. These packs are completely reusable, so you can keep them for the next occasion where you might have to transport your frogs!
-I never use heat packs inside of the box, as they can overheat or use up the oxygen.
-Frogs are packed inside of little deli cups. Air-holes are melted into the sides of the cups, to avoid sharp edges. The cup also contains plant clippings that act as a shock absorber, should the package encounter turbulence. I do not put sphagnum moss in the cups, because a couple of my friends who have previously received frogs packed this way reported that the mat of sphagnum shifted in transit, creating a potentially dangerous situation. A sq**rt of water, along with the plant clippings, provides plenty of humidity for the trip.
-If there is extra room in the box, and I have extras, I like to include extra goodies, such as plant clippings from my terrariums or a small springtail culture.
