There are limited spots remaining for our 2023 spring CE conference on Sunday, April 16 at Kent Island Resort. The conference is open to veterinarians and RVTs, and conference attendees will earn Maryland state CE credits. Out-of-state attendees should confirm CE eligibility with their state's veterinary board.

As you may have seen, there was a fire in our Towson location with extensive damage. Thankfully, no humans or animals were harmed during this event. The Towson location is currently closed while we gather information and remediate water and smoke damage.

Please contact your pet’s specific specialty practice for information about any upcoming appointments that may have been scheduled in the Towson location. At this time, we do not have a reopening date. Any patients seeking emergency veterinary care should visit our Annapolis or Columbia locations.

Congratulations to Dr. Hitt on his very well-deserved retirement!

Congratulations on your retirement, Dr. Hitt!

After a storied and successful career, Dr. Mark Hitt, DACVIM and founder of Atlantic Veterinary Internal Medicine is officially retired as of March 30, 2021.

Dr. Hitt founded AVIM 29 years ago and has been instrumental in its growth from a single doctor practice in Annapolis to a renowned internal medicine and oncology specialty clinic with three locations, a dozen doctors and more than 50 support team members. He has been tireless in his pursuit of excellence in veterinary medicine. We thank him dearly for his years of dedication to the pets in our communities and honor him for his incomparable achievements.

Dr. Hitt plans to enjoy his retirement with his two grandsons and his four dogs, Tully, Darby, Macallan and Re*****on. He looks forwards to leisurely days of gardening, driving his sports car and living the Jimmy Buffett life!

UPDATE regarding the spring conference:

Hello everyone,

In light of the current concerns surrounding COVID-19, Chesapeake Veterinary Referral Center has decided to cancel the 2020 Spring CE Conference planned for next Sunday, March 22.

The health and safety of our doctors, staff, attendees and everyone's families, as well as the staff of Chesapeake Bay Beach Club, is of utmost importance. Given the fluidity of the situation, we have decided to tentatively reschedule the conference to Sunday, November 8 at the Chesapeake Bay Beach Club.

All original tickets will be honored for that date. It is not necessary to cancel your tickets at this time. Once we get closer to the fall, and hopefully further away from this public health crisis, you will receive emails reminding you of the rescheduled date and instructions on how to cancel.
