Our next Basic Obedience Group Class is officially scheduled to start Monday, January 12 @ 6pm! 🐾

This class is perfect for dogs of all breeds (ages 5 months and older) who need help perfecting the basics! We’ll teach essential obedience concepts like loose leash walking, a place command, and reliable sit & down stays, as well as everyday life skills like greeting people politely and ignoring distractions in the environment.

• Class length: 7 weeks (one night of orientation, 6 nights of class)
• Price: $375 ($50 reservation deposit, $325 class price)
• Location: Ankeny, IA
• Instructor: Cynthia Olson

A few announcements/requests as we transition to begin operation in Ankeny, IA full time:

📣 Our Elite Obedience Training- Ankeny, IA page and Instagram account will both be DELETED on Monday, Dec. 15

We will be exclusively using this page (Elite Obedience Training) for ALL communication regarding classes, lessons, and board and train programs in Ankeny, IA from that point forward- please be sure you’re following this account to stay up to date!

Say hello to our newest board and train dog, Cooper! ⛄️

This big guy is a 15 month-old Great Pyrenees/Anatolian mix here for a 4 week board and train with Kenzie! Cooper is a large (and very strong) bull in a china shop who loves to drag around his owners on leash, jump up on new friends, and pretend he doesn’t hear you calling his name 😂 He’s also recently started growling during examinations at the vet.

We’ll be spending the next few weeks establishing some clear boundaries, teaching reliable obedience skills, and helping him feel much more comfortable being handled!

Kenzie is now taking new clients in the ANKENY, IA AREA 🥳

Wishing everyone a very happy Thanksgiving- we are so thankful for all of the wonderful people and dogs we have been fortunate enough to work with this year! 🫶🏼

We are especially grateful to announce that starting in 2026, we will be fully merging our two locations! Kenzie will be relocating to the Ankeny, IA area in the next few months, and we are so excited to have the whole team back together in one place.

To our clients in Kansas- thank you, from the bottom of my heart. I have had the most incredible time getting to know you all, and I am so so grateful for everyone who has trusted me with their dogs in the past 5 years. I am so excited to be closer to my family and friends again, but so sad to be leaving the community we’ve built here. Thank you all, for everything.

ANKENY FRIENDS- stay tuned for updates over the next few months regarding NEW board and train openings, NEW group class options, and NEW opportunities to strengthen your relationships with your dogs. We have some exciting ideas up our sleeves! 😉🕺🏼

Meet Kenzie’s current board and train dogs- Louie, Rikku, Kaia, and Niko 🤍

Louie is a 2 year-old Frenchie/English Bulldog mix here for a 4 week board and train! He was recently adopted and came to his new home with a host of behavioral issues- instigating conflict with other dogs, nuisance barking, demanding attention, and biting when he’s frustrated or doesn’t get his way. 🫠 While he’s here, we’ll be working hard to instill a solid understanding of basic obedience cues and clear boundaries regarding his behavior, as well as management techniques to help his owners integrate him more easily into their life back at home!

Rikku is a 10 month-old Golden Retriever also here for a 4 week board and train! He has been exhibiting some less than ideal behavior at home- resource guarding from the other dogs in the house, knocking over the young children he lives with, digging in the yard, counter surfing, demand barking- the list goes on! 😂 We’ll be introducing Rikku to the concept of RULES during his stay with us- he is such a smart guy, and I know that with a clear communication system and a better understanding of our expectations for him, he’s going to be much more enjoyable for his family to live with at the end of his program.

Kaia is a 6 month-old German Shepherd puppy (and a daughter of Kenzie’s dog Draco!). She’s here for a 2 week board and train focused on the basics- loose leash walking, greeting people politely, recalling reliably off leash, and settling down in the house.

Niko is a 1.5 year-old mixed breed boy here for a 4 week program! He is the sweetest guy, but a little bit of a bull in a china shop- tons of energy that he does not know what to do with, and no perception at all of his own size or strength 🫣 We’ll be introducing obedience skills like loose leash walking, saying “hello” to new people without jumping, and recalling off leash, as well as addressing some underlying separation anxiety and potty training concerns!

We are having so much fun with this group so far, and we can’t wait to see all the progress they make in the next few weeks.🫶🏼

There is massive amount of trust involved in the decision to leave your dog in someone else’s care- something that we do not take lightly when it comes to our board and trains.

Our goal is always to provide the same type of love, care, and attention to your dogs as we’d want for our own. While they’re here, they’re family. 🤍

Say hello to our newest board and train dogs- Blue, Nora, and Sally! 👋🏼

Blue is a 4 year-old Blue Tick Coonhound here for a 4 week board and train program. He was very recently adopted by his new family after spending most of his life until this point living on a tie out, and we’re so excited to help them set him up for success! We’ll be spending the next few weeks teaching Blue all of the basics, focusing especially hard on establishing solid leash manners and a reliable off leash recall!

Nora is an 11 month-old Great Dane also here for a 4 week board and train program focused on building her confidence around new people, teaching an off leash recall, and proofing her manners & basic obedience skills in the presence of distractions.

Sally is a 6 month-old Aussiedoodle here for a 2 week board and train centered around learning to greet people politely, establishing a trustworthy off leash recall, and teaching basic obedience concepts.

We can’t wait to see all of the progress these guys make with Shanna over the next few weeks! 😍

Meet our June board and train dogs! 🫶🏼

Bodie is a 1 year-old Doodle here for a 2 week board and train centered on learning reliable basic obedience skills and household manners. We’ll be focusing extra hard on creating a more positive association with his crate, solidifying his leash manners & off leash recall, and addressing his habit of jumping up on people during greetings!

Dilly is a 7 year-old Border Collie/Aussie mix here for a 4 week behavior modification program. She is SO sweet with people she knows and trusts, but can be very fear reactive towards strangers in situations where she’s uncertain or afraid. We’ll be working over the next few weeks to help her build some confidence, and to instill a clear system of communication for her family to utilize as they manage her interactions with the world around her back at home.

Max is a 1 year-old German Shepherd also here for a 4 week behavior modification program. He’s a great boy, but he has a bit of an attitude problem- he’s been exhibiting strong signs of what we like to call “adolescent male bullsh*t” (reactivity to dogs & people, aggression at the vet, resource guarding at home…you get the idea 😂). We’re looking forward to providing the boundaries and guidance he needs to be a much more polite and enjoyable member of society from now on!

R***r is a 1 year-old German Shepherd here for a 4 week board and train as well! This good boy is a big baby who has no real idea of his size or strength, which makes him difficult to handle in situations where he’s overstimulated or excited. We’ll be proofing his on & off leash obedience skills, helping him learn to socialize more appropriately with other dogs, and addressing his leash reactivity.

The rest of our summer is starting to fill up, so please reach out if you’d like to get a spot reserved- we have availability for 4 week & behavior modification programs opening up on July 15, and 2 week programs opening up August 12.

Say hello to Kingston! 👋🏼

Kingston is a 2 year-old Aussiedoodle here for a behavior modification board and train program. After being adopted recently by his new family, he began exhibiting a number of concerning behaviors- resource guarding, leash reactivity, separation/containment anxiety, and chasing his family’s cats.

He has spent the past few weeks here learning obedience skills & household manners, and developing a clear understanding of our expectations when it comes to his interactions with other dogs and people. He heads back home to his family soon, and we’re so excited to watch him continue to thrive now that he has a whole new set of skills to help him be successful!
