It is with mixed emotions that we share that Dr. Alli Garcia will be leaving our practice as she moves out of the area.

For more than two years, Dr Garcia has been a valued member of our veterinary team. Her compassion, dedication, knowledge, and genuine love for her patients have touched the lives of so many pets and their families. We are incredibly grateful for everything she has brought to our practice and community.

While we are certainly sad to see her go, we are excited for her as she begins this new chapter. Please join us in wishing Dr Garcia and her family safe travels, continued success, and happiness in their new home!

Dr Garcia, you will be greatly missed by all of us - and by the many patients and families who have had the pleaure in knowing you. Thank you for being such a wonder part of our practice family! ❤
With love,
Andrews Veterinary Clinic

I’ve heard some boarding facilities decline to board animals that have been to our clinic on Saturday. This is unwarranted and not appropriate. Please call me and we can discuss the pathology of screwworms. The sweet animal we are treating is now clean, has been isolated the entire time and no flies have arisen from the affected dog. All larvae have been cleaned from the wound and destroyed.

Don’t panic, be intelligent and please, if you have questions, don’t assume. Get answers from us professionals.

Animal Health Alert - New World Screwworm Case Under Investigation

Andrews Veterinary Clinic is currently working with state and federal animal health officials regarding a case of New World Screwworm (NWS) in a dog seen on Saturday, June 6th. The dog and owners are not local to Andrews, and there is concern they may have recently traveled from Mexico.

USDA test results and the diagnosis have been confirmed. The dog has been treated and is doing well.

New World Screwworm is a serious parasite whose maggots feed on LIVE TISSUE. It can affect livestock, pets, wildlife, and people.

Watch for:
- wounds that worsen instead of heal
- foul-smelling or draining wounds
- visible maggots in a wound
- excessive licking, biting, or irritation around a wound

LIVESTOCK PRODUCERS should pay special attention to newborn umbilical sites, new branding sites, ear tag holes, castration wounds, and any fresh injuries.

If you suspect NWS, contact your veterinarian immediately.

As a precaution, animal owners should carefully consider non-essential travel with pets or livestock into areas along the Texas-Mexico border and ensure they are familiar with current state and federal movement requirements. Regulations regarding the importation and exportation of animals have become more stringent in response to the northward spread of New World Screwworm.

Please inspect your animals regularly and promptly address any wounds or unusual lesions with your veterinarian.

Thanks to the tireless Linemen that got electricity restored through the night here at the clinic by repairing the downed power line. You guys rock an otherwise thankless job. Andrews Vet Clinic really appreciates you.

Truck hit power line At Allsups on 176 and snapped a line clear down here in front of the clinic as well. We are without power and phones until fixed. Emergency line available.
